Live From the Greenroom: February 23rd
The beloved Bo Dietl, our in-studio guest this morning, is never better than when he is ‘Linguistitating’, inventing words of such etymological genius even Norm Crosby would be ‘Flabbergastrated’.
Today, he was giving out ‘Kadoos’. I think he meant ‘Kudos’, but whatever they were, they were free and flying. Except for Martin Scorcese, whose latest movie, ‘Shutter Island’, in the opinion of Film Historian Bo, pretty much, ‘Suckitates’. Bo knows what he’s talking about. Not only is Bo a veteran producer, (‘The Bone Collector’ with Angelina Jolie and Denzel Washington is just one of the titles in his cinematic oeuvre) he was also involved in the filming of ‘Goodfellas’; as an on-set adviser, confidante of Nick Pileggi, the book author, and in a cameo appearance as the cop with the gun in the driveway who yells ‘FREEZE MUTHAF*%#@R!’ Bo provides a geniusitated performance, if only because you actually get the sense that it wasn’t the first time he ever said that particular phrase.
In a Bernie briefing, it was reported that Senior Citizens are smoking more dope than in years past, due to the advancing years of the ‘Baby Boom’ generation. Somehow, I have a hard time thinking about my grandmother, in her rocker, puffing on a fatty, using her dentures as a roach clip. My only question: ‘When old people get high, what do they get the munchies for? Brussels’ Sprouts? The Early Bird Special at Denny’s?’ I would think my Nana’s arthritis probably precluded her rolling a joint, but then again, that’s probably why Granny Clampett had that corn cob pipe. Oooooh doggie.
