Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Sent one earlier, but can't find it. Fred You will be missed by a lot of us. From your too infrequent visits on the Imus in the morning show, to your dry sence of humor on Siriius radio YOU were great. R.I.P. Fred, and the world is yours to watch over now.
THANKS FOR THE GOOD MEMORIES

what a wonderful man, what a great loss.....i have enjoyed both fred and don for half my life, God bless the imus family at this sad time, and now fred is in heaven at the side of God........
Millions of people enjoyed your on air conversations. Wish we could hear some more.
I always looked forward to hearing Fred’s observations on American life. He was always straight to the point. With his sad passing I can hear a message: keep my own act together in this day, today, because tomorrow is not promised to us. The I-Man loved Fred and Fred knew it. And I love Imus In The Morning.
I do not have a brother and though I love my sisters, having a brother is a very special gift- the love was apparent always. His call-in segments were the best. Those of us living comfortably but tediously in suburbia loved to hear about the outlaw Fred- living in the trailer and keeping it real.
It is very strange how I just started watching the Imus show on FOX for about a year and of all your guests Fred was well.....just FUNNY. I never write or post comments like this but I would like to say Thanks Fred for making me laugh with your jokes and understanding life is short and we must truly enjoy every minute of it. Don Imus thanks for introducing your brother to all of us.
Fred Stained my new sofa!
As is my morning habit, I poured a large mug of coffee, curled up on that particular morning on my brand new suede sofa and turned on Imus In The Morning. That morning Fred was a guest. I had just taken a large gulp of milky brew when Fred began to expound about his cure for illegal immigration and I promptly spit it all over my red suede sofa!! I laughed so hard I choked. Every morning when I see the faintly remaining stain I will remember Fred and smile.
today, imus said that fred passed away of a broken heart, but didn't comment further on that. i'm, sure i'm not the only one to wonder what he meant by that. can he share that with us.

I am a long time listerner from Brooklyn (now in NH) who joined the Navy Submarine Service back in 1974. On our trips back into New London, CT as soon as we surfaced the radioman would tune into your radio show and that's when we knew we were back home. Fred always received the loudest howls. We wish him "Fair Winds and Following Seas" on his new journey.

.....doesn't matter how you spin it or what kind of face you place on death.....it just sucks....
God Bless you Don and the Imus Family
It says everything about Don and Fred that while appearing "crusty" and tough they never shied away from showing their love and loyalty to each other. May we all learn
an important life's lesson from their example. It's obvious Don and his family will forever carry Fred in their hearts. May Fred watch over Don while he continues his courageous fight against cancer. Rest in Peace, Fred.
Always enjoyed Fred is was a terrific man. He is a special angel watching over us.
Missed the show last week but so glad you took time out for Fred---He was always a welcome addition to the show--What a breath of fresh air Fred was to us normal, red neck, country folks
Just wanted to express our deepest and most sincere sympathy's on the death of Fred. What a wonderful guy and I know Don, that you and Deidre along with Wyatt and Fred's son feel the same way. I lost my brother to brain cancer and the loss and void of him being gone will never be filled. He was my hero, so I understand what it's like to loose a brother, father, brother-in-law, and uncle which Fred was to all your family. Fred was such a funny guy and we always looked forward to his football picks.....we will miss his call in's on Friday..
A Sunset on Earth is a Sunrise in HEAVEN....... Rest in Peace Fred....can't wait to meet you when we get to HEAVEN...
God Bless you Don, Deirdre, Wyatt and Donny. I pray God's peace and comfort will be with all of you in the days that lie ahead.....
Love,
Rhonda & Fred Ball
My heart is broken to have just learned of your brother Freds passing. I always loved it when he would call in on Imus in the morning. It always started my day laughing. I sure will miss those times. So sorry for your loss Iman.
Happy trails, Fred You always made me smile.....Godspeed and sympathies to your family.
Weither I agreed or disagreed with what you said it didn't make any difference. The important thing was that you said it as you saw it and that is more than most can say. The stage has lost a good man.
Imus so sorry to hear about your great loss. I always enjoyed Fred calling your show. When you would announce that Fred would be calling in. I would wait patiently for the call. I knew his call would bring humour or some thing that would really make a man think.Once again I am so sorry for the loss of you brother our thoughts and prayer are with you. So sorry for your loss from a longtime listener. Fred was a wonderful person to listen to, loved the banter between you and him, and enjoyed his views on issues. The baby Jesus is probably laughing listening to what Fred is sharing up in heaven!
Our country would be a better place if we all could be as free as fred imus was. always just telling it as it is. rest in peace fred - you will always be remembered.
I'm so sorry to hear about Fred... I was in the hospital and did not find out until over the week-end.... I loved to see and hear Fred talk..very funny!!!!
