Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

I'll miss Fred appearing on Imus in the morning. He was the real deal Don. My prayers go out to you and your family. I miss the ole days when you were on msnbc and Lou & Bernie had more input. Please keep on telling it like it is Don. We went out and purchased the network your now on. I have charter and they don't carry RFD tv. I love that network. Have tried to get charter to carry it but no luck. Thanks for your show and God bless Fred.
You never knew what Fred might say in reponse to one of Don's questions. I was always waiting because it usually was a different take, and often very funny. He really didn't vcare how he was perceived, but was just being himself.
I am an Anna Nicole look-a-like and have always found Fred Imus rather appealing because he loved dogs and horses. Hope they do not suffer from a broken heart from Fred's death. I worry about that. Women loved Fred cause they wanted to protect him and nurture him. Just like Bernie.......Love and Kisses
I could tell how close Don and Fred were - their love and friendship were admirable and real. My condolences to the Imus family.
2 thoughts. i think we lost the better of the 2 brothers. also, i know damn well deidre would not get on fred
about anything as he would probably told her to kiss his black ass.
my condolances.
Fred will be missed and not forgotten. He was an entertaining character with the ability to cut through life's bullshit with a few words. Everyone should have a brother like Fred. RIP.

Condolences to the Imus family. Fred always made me laugh. I'll miss him.
Thank you, Neil Cavuto, for adding words to what I couldn't get down on paper adequately. Your tribute to Fred was, well, even the Baby Jesus would love it.
I've been a listener in the NYC area going back to the WNNNNBC days, and I never heard that story about Fred and parrot. Funny stuff, Mr. Imus.
My condolences to your family......
Thanks for all the laughs through all the years, Fred. Ride on
Fred Imus made me like Don Imus more.
Don and Fred were lke the Everly or Ames or Mills Brothers, they harmonized beautifully as only brothers can. Like thousands of others who also never met Fred, we KNEW him and liked him and we sure will miss him. Bon voyage Fred, enjoy the ride.
Thanks for the delicious SALSA, Fred. When you called in, it was one of those times where you pulled over to the side of the road, so you wouldn't miss a word of your down-home humor. You'll be missed, but never forgotten !
I-man,
I've been listeningto you since the early nineties, first on radio, then msnbc, then rfd-tv now fox business. I was always amazed at your career and the great interviews that you were able to get on the air, but I never looked forward to any of them anymore than I did on Friday mornings when you usually interviewed Fred. I've lost both of my brothers and
I know the loss you feel.

Cavuto did a great job of remembering Fred!
Imus I just learned of the passing of your brother I can't express how sad I feel I was in Durango ,Colorado last week at a reunion with the guys I was in vietnam with
- a week of remembering- maybe its fitting -
so I didn't get to listen or watch the show
I too have been a listener since the 70's.
Your brother was like the guys I saw last week.
He always had your back
he could have been in my foxhole anytime
How many people get to say, there was a man who always made me laugh, who's voice always made me smile, and who could sum up in one sentence -- no matter WHAT he was talking about -- the insignificant issue that, just a moment ago, I thought my life depended upon? Thank you, Fred Imus. You are missed.
Love,
I am a better man for knowing Fred Imus.My condolences to the family. A song ,"chicken fry," by Zach Brown makes me think of Fred and tailgating.
I-Man
I will truly miss Fred as his spots always brightened my day and made your show. My prayers and thoughts have been with you and your family and Fred's family and friends since I heard of his passing. Such a devastating loss to all who loved and knew Fred. RIP Fred Imus.
Don - So sorry for your loss...
The legacy that Fred left is that of the love between both of you, the respect you had for each other and the delight we all shared in hearing you both on the air. Thank you Fred for being so open and honest and saying it like it is! You will be missed, loved and remembered.
YOU WILL BE MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN. REST IN PEACE.
I've listened to your show since your WNBC days when I drove to work. I always looked forward to Fred's apprerances on your show. I especially liked his stories about Four-Legged Fred and his life in the trailer. May he rest in peace.
I have been listening to your radio show since the 1990's and always enjoyed tour conversations with Fred.He has a wonderful since of humor and could tell a great joke.
Anyone who can tell a joke and loves dogs will have a great after life!!
I did not know Fred other than though the Imus show and Outlaw Country, I have been planning a trip on my motorcycle to NM, AZ, CO, ect in late August for over 2 years now and I thought wouldn't it be nice to find FRED filling up an old Pickup truck at some truck stop, I believe he would have a coffee and a piece of pie with a stranger and SHARE a laugh or two, I know that will not happen now, but I will still look for him as I know he can be found in the wind, the clouds and yes even the rain. I will miss this man I did not know, its a testament to his life that so many feel they knew him, and cared for so much for him ! RIP FRED, I will see you riding the wind on my trip west!
Dear Mr. Imus, I remember the first time you mentioned Fred had a new business, Autobody Express, and he was giving away T-shirts and to call and get one. So I called and Fred answered the phone. He laughed when I mention the "giveaway" because he said he T-shirts but I had to pay for it. I had the most wonderful conversation with him. He was so genuine and down to earth - a much appreciated quality in a person. At some point I purchased the jean jacket with the New Mexico flag for my husband. We will always treasure that jacket. Thank you to heavens above for sharing such a wonderful person with us.
