Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

There is a love that brothers know. Rest in peace Fred, and my condolences to you Imus.
To the extended Imus family - As a loyal listener for nearly 15 years, Fred was a delightful part of the program. In fact, I learned a good customer service lesson from Fred's appearances on the show. I'll always remember his recounting of the "dead bug test" (it may've been a dead cockroach) that he employed with his cleaning lady. To this day, I use that test at home and work to check on the cleaning skills of whomever may be doing the job!
To the listeners, he was a source of entertainment and enlightenment but, more importantly, to you all he was a father, brother, uncle, in-law, "outlaw", and friend. My deepest sympathies to all of you.
He made me laugh when I needed it.
The bond between brothers is undeniably special. My sincere condolences for you, your family, and all who know and love Fred. He touched many listeners with his humor and lust for life. You have a guardian angel now that will watch over you. Fred will be that angel that will continue to be there for you to talk to and kibbets with, so don't be surprise if he sends you few signs just to humor you some more.
Pleas except my condolences for the loss of your brother Fred. I have listened to your show for longer than I care to admit. You and Fred made me laugh so hard I almost peed myself. Truth be told I probably did. I know all to well the loss of a brother. I am sorry to say the pain fades a little but the void in your heart never does. The only solace for us is that some day My brother Fred and You will be sitting around heaven listening to Fred talk about Willie; Waylen and the boys. God Bless and may He Rest In Peace..
i really liked fred. he was so funny and sweet, i could tell
he was very kind man. i will
miss him.
Sorry to hear about Fred's passing. Always enjoyed his phone calls to Imus in the morning. I'll never forget the story he told not too long ago about his "accident" in the supermarket. :) My thoughts and prayers to the whole Imus family.

I wanted to write something last week and express my feelings from a fan of Fred's show and the I-Man, and I thought of all the times I heard Fred's voice on the "Imus" show, and how I laughed so hard it brought tears to my eyes every time!
My wife and I are sorry for your loss. May Fred rest in peace.

to the "I" man.
My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. Fred was a wonderful character.
I was working on a fundraiser for my son's school (serveral years ago). I had purchased "AUTOBODY REPAIR" shirts that holiday season for stocking stuffers for my husband and thought they would be great for our school auction. I called to order a shirt, as luck would have it FRED answered the phone. What a kick. Not only did he send a complimentary shirt, he sent a note and a photogragh of his dog. Fred Imus: What a guy!!! and his brother's pretty great too.
Mr. Imus,
larry and I are so saddened to hear of the loss of your cherished brother, Fred.
a part of you that will always be "missing". Fred's humor and love of life and
his great love for you, is what kept us lovin' the Imus in the Morning show. what
a loving and gentle man he was and I am so sure he has, indeed, touched the
face of God. sincerely, larry and dee staub
Awoke exactly at 6 am today as if even even in my sleep I knew you were back. I was touched once again by your love for your brother and tears came spontaneously when your voice broke as you spoke about your brother and put his death at age 69 into the proper perspective given many of the kids in your care's fate. It was so right. You hit all the right notes. It was all good. The tears, a release of emotions, show how much you and your brother are a part of our lives, and you and your family shall live in our hearts and minds forever. Claudia from Staten Island.
Don,
I've been listening since college and enoyed your concersations with Fred over the years. Thank you for sharing the thoughts and laughs.
Sincerely,
SP
I am a long-time listener and very much enjoyed Fred's appearances. I've always believed that dogs and children are the best judges of character. Fred seemed to be okay with them so he was okay with me. I lost my brother along time ago and have missed him every day since. It's clear that you loved each other very much and that is what you can carry with you to help you through. I'm sorry this sounds so hokey but I feel like I knew you both and just wanted you to know how sorry I am.
Fred was a great guy. He will be missed by all Imus friends and family. As Stevie Van Zandt said, Fred was "Outlaw Country."
Thank you Fred for all of your stories and insightful wit, always made me smile or laugh. RIP
My favorite Fred story was the day Don was talking about Fred's ex wife and asked Fred if the ex was really the devils sister and Fred responded,"No, she WAS the devil. I laughed so hard that day tears were rolling down my cheeks. When I just heard Fred had passed away, a different kind of tears were rolling down my cheeks. I will miss the old cowboy on the show. See you at the "Big Roundup" in Heaven Fred. Rest in peace old boy!!
My sincere condolences to you and your family from an Imus fan in Morris CT.
Heaven is for real and so an angel has arrived in Fred Imus.
I still laugh at remembering and cry at the loss of two of my own brothers.
I am sure you will too.
How special the bond and how grateful I am to have shared their lives.
Thanks to you Don, for sharing him with us.
We will all miss him along with you.
Godspeed to Fred Imus,
Nancy Lundquist
Don, another one of the True Americans has passed. Unfortunately, they are not many of us left. Fred spoke his mind and I enjoyed his comments. Thoughts and Prayers to You and Your Family. Steve
It's a hard rain, gonna fall.
Fred had a unique way in which to take any issue and break it down to its lowest possible denominator. In doing so it made you realize not only how smart Fred was but how much better life would be if everyone used Fred's philosophy in living life and dealing with our own problems.
Fred you will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathy to the Imus family.
I remember speaking to Fred when I called to order Auto Body Express tee shirts. We got into a discussion about football and how he thought Dan Reeves would do coaching the NY Giants. Alas he was wrong. We met at a book signing with Don in Huntington, NY. Fred was so gracious. He was true to himself yet made those who looked and dressed so differently than him perfectly comfortable. He was funny, courteous and a real charmer. Those of you who knew him intimately were truly blessed.
I have been a huge fan since 1994 and looked forward to hearing Fred each morning for not only a guaranteed laugh, but his thoughts for the day. It was always interesting and so damn funny. I will always remember the day I called the Auto Body Express to tell him a joke and being so surprised that he actually came to the phone! The fact that he actually laughed at my joke made my day. I can only imagine how hard it must be for your family now. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless!
Thank you for sharing Fred with us!
No phony. He is already missed.
To the Iman and his family. So sorry for your loss. Know what you are going through. Lost my brother in May. Start my day with you everyday. Going to miss Fred a lot just like Frank. God bless you all.
