Hour by Hour
Hour One:
We start off the day with the most incredibly great, uplifting, world-changing news:
Bernie has his microphone stand. And some people say there is no God.
Alexis Glick is getting her five favorite songs played as bumpers today. The first one up was 'Heartbreaker' by Pat Benatar. Can 'We Built This City On Rock n' Roll' by the Starship be far behind?
Liz Claman, despite her purported nerves, was a GREAT guest. You know it's going to be a good day when a really attractive redheaded woman says the word 'penis' on network television. You won't find THAT on CNBC, folks.
Hour Two:
It's Warner's birthday today. It was the Marine Corps Birthday yesterday. They're only a year younger than Warner. To celebrate, during his sportscast, he plays the Cadillac's 'They Used To Call Me Speedo (But My Real Name Is Mr. Earl)' I hope it's not one of his favorite songs. If so, the morning we play his list, it's going to be a reallllly long day.
Bill White is on with Marine Cpl Aaron Mankin in honor of Veteran's Day. Cpl. Mankin is the most inspiring human being that I have ever had the honor to meet. Anyone who is not humbled by the courage of this country's service men and women, and deeply grateful for the sacrifices they make on a daily basis to insure the freedom we sadly take for granted, should listen to his story. I defy them to not be moved.
Hour Three:
The great Dick Gregory is our guest. Between the heroism and humanity displayed by Cpl Mankin, and the comedic genius of Mr. Gregory, I pretty much feel like the corn in the stool of a longhorn steer.
Two more on Alexis' list: 'Shambala' by Three Dog Night. 'Instant Karma' by John Lennon.
Words fail me.
Hour Four:
Hasn't happened yet, but I'm projecting that Imus will, no doubt, try to turn Veteran's Day into something about him, as he was a Marine himself. The only sacrifices he was a part of during his stint in the Corps were on the part of those in his company who had to listen to him try to play the bugle.
An emotional morning.
But at least Bernie has his microphone stand.
