Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

I'll never forget when he lost the cantaloupe in his laundry........he always made me laugh........I am sad that he is gone and I pray that you can remember ALL the good times.
God Bless You,
Harry Cade
Fred, Rest in Peace as you certainly deserve it. You were the best representative of the Western man. Strong and independent with a sense of responsibility. You did it well while you were here and you'll be sorely missed.
To Mr. Don Imus and Family of Fred,
Fred will be deeply missed. The banter between the brothers was my favorite part of the show.
Mr. Imus - the way you signed off segments with your brother and the mix of humor and sincerity always worked perfectly. Because it was so real and so true.
My condolences and sympathy on the loss of Fred.

My deepest sympathies to the family. I am a long time listener, and what I remember of Fred was that whenever he was talking about whatever, a former wife or Four Legged Fred, I always anticipated the truth. I mean his opinion was not outrageous. I may not have always agreed with his opinion, but I always believed he was telling it as he saw it. Funny, off beat and straight from the shoulder. I will miss him.
I am so very sorry for our loss - Fred will be fondly remembered - my favorite memory is when you told Fred that you would paint his trailer, Fred said "Well it don't need no painting" and you said "well I'll hose it down for you," I laghted my butt off I-Man. Uncle Jesse of Delanson NY

I just heard of Fred's passing this past Monday. My thoughts and prayers are with you Imus, as well as, the entire family. I so enjoyed hearing the two brothers bantering back and forth, but never missing the chance to say "I love you" before hanging up! God bless you Imus, for all you do! Fondley, Jeff Waggaman
Iman;
The reason I enjoyed Fred so much better than you, and I enjoy you, was his stories on dating women. And especially about a year ago when he was on telling his stories about the dating sites online. I was literally on the floor laughing! Cause I was and had gone thru some of the same dating stories as Fred, and could I ever relate to what he was saying. The same with his (and my) failed marriages!
Listening to him helped me to know I'm not the only knothead in the world struggling to relate with the women of my life.
Fred was always right. Some men are just better off with a dog (canine). And I'm one of them...
He was a great straight shooter and just "told it like it is". No hatred, had worked thru the bitterness of it all and his acceptance of it made us all better for hearing it, and to be able to live with the disappointment and heartbreak of failed love & relationships.
Thanks for sharing Fred with us. He was a pure jewel.
May the warmth of his love and friendship be with you & your loved ones forever.
Fred's now at peace with his life & maker.
A simple man, thinking simple thoughts, living a simple life. Our world is full of noise and distractions, most of which we simply tune out. Freds voice was a spark that caught our attention and interest. He shared with us simple comments and observations. We always wanted and needed to hear more.
Fred was a real guy, a real man. His life was like many of Don's listeners and we could all relate to the good old boy. I hope Don goes on for many, many years to come. Waking up to his crumpled, annoying antics is a pleasure, and one I hope that continues for a long time. You went to bed and now you are dead. Rest in peace Fred.
Im sorry for your loss. I started listening to Imus in thr early 70. It is a sad day for all R.I.P. Fred
I am so saddened to hear about Fred. My prayers are with the entire family. God Bless You
Dear Mr. Imus.....what a sad day it was to hear about your brother Fred. I have for many years listened to your show when it first started on tv on MSNBC and have been with you ever since and how I enjoyed when Fred would appear on your program. He was a delight and funny funny and funny. Thinking of you and your family often. My best to everyone, Patricia Agdan
Well just finished the Sunday block on XM. I did not want to believe it but I guess it's true Fred has moved on. I will never be able to listen to the Eagles or Joe Ely again without thinking of him. I see him now sitting in heaven on a couch in the front yard of his double wide smoking a butt with four legged Fred at his feet, listening to his brother on the radio. Please take solace in knowing it was so obvious as a listener Fred loved all he knew and they loved him.
I-Man, I am so very sorry for your loss! Fred was a funny, loving and talented man. When I was 16 you sent me one of the original Auto Body Express T-shirts! I wore that shirt for years and years... Until it was so thin and holy it was no longer appropriate. No one that was my age in 1993 knew what that shirt was about. I'd try to explain and end up saying " ahhhhhh you just don't get it".
I knew how special my shirt was, and I knew I loved that relationship between Fred and the I-Man! You two did great things!
Again, I am very very sorry... My heart goes out to all of the Imus family!
Fred, RIP my friend. You brighten many of my days with your calls in Don's show. Always stated what was in your heart and your knew were you stand. A true friend to many.

Fred was a wonderful, warm, funny, wise man, and you and he together demonstrated unconditional and unbroken brotherly love. I have been listening to the program for over 25 years, have all your books, clothes, products, won a contest, and stuck it out during the 'dark' times. The world was a better place having Fred here. My condolences to you and your family.
They say " a picture is worth a thousand words". Don's amazing photograph of his brother says it all!! Shows Freds character , what a wonderful face. My husband still has a "four legged Fred" sweat shirt from the Auto Body Express. Condollences to the entire Imus family and friends.

I was sad to hear of the loss of your brother. You have another brother, Charles. Please consider making amends with each other while you're both on the same side of the grass. Take care of your self Don Imus.
Fred could make me laugh on a crappy rainy monday morning. His corney jokes made it easier to make it through the day
