This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Remembering Fred Imus

Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69

Please accept my condolences on Fred's passing. As Jim Clark (on Aug. 8) aptly noted, he was "like the other bookend!" I was happy to donate to your library (at the ranch) in honor of Charles and wonder if you will be doing anything similar in Fred's memory.

Kind regards,
Cheryl from Southport, CT

RIP Fred. You will be missed. We always enjoyed Fred's "real world" point of view on both political topics and life in general. Some of our favorite stories were the ones shared about his dogs. They all seemed to start with "Ya know......" We also enjoyed Fred's quick wit and ability to still suprise his brother with a good one! The silence is saddening. Our deepest sympathy to the IMUS family.

What wasn't to like about Fred? He was a down to earth, straight up, tell it like it is kinda guy. I have enjoyed The Imus Show for years. Everyone is great but I really looked forward to Fred's call ins. When Imus asked him if he had watched the state of the union speech and Fred replied that he changed the channel when it became apparent that he wasn't resigning, I laughed until I cried. You could always tell what a great love these brothers shared. I lost my sister 4 years ago and I still find myself reaching for the phone to tell her something, it is like she is gone but somehow still here. I can't explain it, that is just how it seems. May God bless the entire family as they go through some very difficult times..

I put off doing this because your loss hits so close to home for me emotionally. I lost my younger brother last Oct due to Parkinson's disease. We spent our adult lifes working in the same career field (law enforcement) just as you and Fred did in broadcasting. The relationship you and your brother had with each other was so apparent every time I saw you on TV. Fred was so witty, down to earth, and endearing. Chip (my brother) and I had the same type of interaction. I was his biggest fan and he was my biggest fan. Thank you for telling Fred that you loved him at the end of each conversation. The pain you now feel I feel also. But more important the peace you now display is just beginning for me, thank you for helping me gain the peace you have. Mr Imus I will pray to the BABY JESUS for you and your family. I will miss Fred but will always remember the impacts you two have on my life. Again thank you.

One of the funnist things I ever heard was Fred talking about how he lost 2 cantaloupes in his trailer. The first place he looked for them was in his durty laundry pile and tought they might have rolled there. I would loved to hear that story again.

best wishes
michael

I heard Fred started a cattle ranch at heaven's door. He welcomes everyone except ex-wives and liars. What a wonderful place that must be!

Mr. Imus, my mother who passed away at 99 a few years ago loved you, Fred and Delbert McClinton. She knew you all were the real deal. I'll miss Fred, I've been thinking about him every day. RIP.

I would like to offer my sympathy to the Imus family at the loss of Fred. I have listened to the Imus show(s) since Don started with (excuse me) MSNBC, and living on the west coast, meant watching at 3am! Fred's calls into the show were always entertaining and after a while, the listener began to get a sense of what growing up IMUS meant.

His life ended too soon. I will miss hearing his voice and smiling as his own, undeniable common sense of what's REALLY going on in this crazy world, would be broadcasted to the more unenlightened of us !

I have followed the I-Man through the changes since leaving MSNBC (sorry bastards) and would just like to say, Thank You for all the years of truth, integrity and entertainment Don Imus and crew have provided. (I can't afford Fox News channel, so can't watch these days, but I follow along on this website)

Best wishes for a healthy recovery, Don and please accept my heartfelt sympathy for your family at Fred's passing. Regards, L Young, Oregon

Don and Family, This has been your best week of broadcasting ever! So many wonderful tributes to Fred! The best were Cavuto and Kinky! God Bless Y'all and may we indeed ''morn our sorrow''. Carl, Vancouver, WA

Long time llistener/fan. Mr. Imus, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your brother. Fred had everything but good timing. He left us far too soon. But I prefer to believe that he simply slipped into the next room to rest for awhile and watch the show. You are particularly blessed in that you got him as your brother, you were able to keep him for 69 years, and you both are far richer for the experience.

Imus,

Before you even think it, I will admit, I have no life! I DVR your morning show and watch it every night when I get home from work. It's better than network TV. I started listening to you in the 1970's. My memory of so many events are associated with you. When you told us about John Lennon's death it was the true passion and shock in your voice is what made it memorable for me. But, by far, your best guest was Fred. I loved your candid and, at times, disparaging exchanges that were so obviously laced with love. He was his own man who never sugarcoated his opinions but at the same time was never meanspirited. He was a great story teller who added so much color to your program. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by us all. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Warmest regards,
Noni

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Fred. I loved him, his humor and the banter with his brother, Don. I am battling Cancer, among other issues, and he was a bright light in my life while watching and listening to him.

My eyes welled-up when I listened to Neil Cavuto's tribute to Fred Imus. Once again, when I heard the tribute replayed after the I-man returned on Monday, August 15, my eyes welled-up again. It was a wonderful tribute to a man whom we all enjoyed listening to when talking to the I-man. How very much he will be missed by us who just knew him through "Imus in the Morning".

May God be with all of you during this challenging time.

I had listened to fred saturday morning on outlaw country,always--always enjoyed him.
was stunned when I read he was gone

I have been a long time fan with Don, and will echo the others who said you could feel the brotherly love.
Don I am so sorry for your loss.

I was a longtime Imus and Fred viewer and fan when Imus was on MSNBC and very sad when Imus left the station. Some of my most favorite moments of the show were when Fred called in and he and Imus talked and joked and made fun of each other. Real brothers. And you knew without a doubt that they loved each other. I just happened to get on Imus' site and saw that Fred had died. I feel so sad that he's gone. God bless you, Imus, and your family. My prayers are wtih you. And God bless you, Fred. May you RIP. You are missed.

I will always remember Fred's voice. It was very distinctive and soulful; made one take notice, listen, and to hang on for the next word. I've listened to the show and to him when he would call in for years, and even placed orders to The Auto Body Express and was fortunate to have him take and place some of my orders.

He seemed very unique and special. Wish I could have met him.

Condolences and thank you....

Just got back from vacation and heard the sad news. Hearing you and Fred always made me smile and think of my own brother. At times the man sounded like a modern day Will Rogers; other times, well, he was Fred Imus, which was pretty good, too. God bless to you and your family. DP

Many year ago I called the Autobody Express to order a tee shirt for my wife. Fred answered the call. He talked with me as if he had known me all his life. We had a nice conversation and a laugh or two. He was the real deal.

We just loved seeing Fred on your show and will truly miss his appearance. His dry wit and perfect perception of events always made us think and LAUGH! Though we do not personally know you, what a lovely relationship between you and your brother. Our deepest sympathy to you and your family!
