This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter
Dear Don Don,
Way back in 92
I walked into the room and knew
Never felt this way before
I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes
And the feeling grew
As I took a seat I knew
A love that would have my heart
Forever
I knew
Way back in 92
They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true
We were the exception to that rule
Our love had no where to hide
A spark set fire
As if this is how the universe started
I never doubted our love or what we could do
Together we grew
Forming a bond everlasting
That became our glue
My euphoria was YOU
I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared
For how fortunate we were :
“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”
Until we are together again
This isn’t our last love letter

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.
A True American Hero
I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.
I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.
In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.
Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe. Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.
I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.

A Tribute To Don Imus
Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Mr. Imus always made our day better when he was on your show. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. We know he will be greatly missed.
Fred is reunited withe his pups at the Rainbowbridge = lots of tails are wagging !!!! Chin up Imus's = Fred would want you to carry on in this crazy world!!!

To the Imus Family
Mr Imus we met once at Yale New Haven Hospital we were both waiting to go in for tests. I was hesitate to approach you but so glad I did. You were gracious and kind. One thing I forgot to let you know was how much I loved your brother. Once when he was on the air I was driving to work and he made me laugh so hard I had to pull over. I have two auto body express shirts and my for legged Fred mug that I still use. He will be missed especially by you. Just remember the times you told him you loved him and all the memories that will give you comfort. He will always be by your side and if you listen you will here him.

My condolences to the entire Imus Family but off and on the air. I have snarfed my hot tea more than a few times over the decades thanks to the show. Fred can take credit for a few of those times! May he rest in peace and may his family, off and on the air, find comfort in our happy and silly moments shared together. I'm very sad by this news. :'(
I will miss all the great stories from Fred. Like the one where he lost the cantelopes.

Dogs are great judges of character.....and you were obviously one great character! I will miss your appearances on the show, and it was great to see two brothers that loved each other like you and the I-man. Imus God bless you and your family.
We loved Fred, having met him at Cactus Country in Tucson when I was on sabbatical 2007-08. We had with us our four-month-old German Shepherd, Liesl the Diesl, whom DearJohn loved. All other dogs approaching Dearjohn's run would be savaged through the chain link, but for Liesl, Dearjohn would roll over and whine. (Fred talked about Liesl on your show. You said, about DJ's rolling over, "Isn't that what you do, Fred, when you meet a prettyl girl?") The two dogs are identical in form and coloration, tho Dearjohn weighs about thirty pounds more. They played together in the dog corral also in following winters when we'd visit Tucson. Fred always came to the door or his trailer to smoke a cigarette when we'd walk by, talking about horses and how whenever he went to the sandwich shop down the road, he would get himself a sandwich of some sort and a meatball sub for Dearjohn. PLEASE KNOW THAT IF DJ NEEDS A HOME, WE WOULD BE GLAD TO TAKE HIM, VALLEY FEVER OR NOT, NOT FOR BREEDING -- LIESL IS SPAYED -- BUT TO GIVE HIM A GOOD HOME. WE HAVE PROPERTY IN TUCSON AND IN MISSOURI, WHERE WE LIVE MOST OF THE TIME. Both my husband and I are recently retired. Dear Fred, may you rest in peace. Rebecca and Kevin
It was always a special show when Fred was on. Hope he found and is happily eating his lost cantalopes somewhere in the great beyond.

I really liked when Fred came on the show. You could sense the brotherly love between Don and Fred. I sometimes wish I had such a relationship with my brother. Sorry for your loss Don.

We were so sorry to learn of Fred's passing. I saw how upset you were last week when Wyatt told you of the calf dying, so I know you must be beside yourself with sadness for losing your brother, brother-in-law, and uncle. Working on the ranch with the kids, you are reminded of the fragility of life every day. That doesn't make it any easier, but I trust you will face your grief in your own unique way- with much dignity. Fred has left you (and all of us) with wonderful memories, and you must know he will always be with you. Talk to him- he's listening. You have taught us all to tell those we care about that we love them every day. Wonderful lesson. Blessings and peace to all of the family... Hold each other close and know that so many folks share in your grief.

We were very saddened this morning to learn of Fred's untimely passing. We enjoyed Fred immensley on the all the shows that Imus has had - he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Imus family during this difficult time.

Was so saddened to hear the news this morning. As so many have noted, it was great to hear the banter, hear the love, and to listen to you both tell each other you loved the other when you signed off. Rest in Peace Fred, and our thoughts are with the Imus Family.
Don. I was shocked at the sad news & am so so sad right along with you. I am a long time listener & haven't emailed you in a while. I felt today that it would be in order to do so. I have yours & Freds picture book on my coffee table & can most certainly only glance through it with sadness as I realize the sadness you are feeling right now. I am the youngest of 5 boys at nearly 59 years old. I have lost all of my brothers save my youngest brother Tony. I surely dread the day if it comes just as you are right now, if I was to lose him. Let the good times you two had roll through your thoughts over & over with that little smile that only you know what it means. God has his ways & none of us can stand in his way. He is in a better place & believing that will help us all. God Speed Fred.

Fred, despite your brother's protests otherwise, you always brought something "to the table" and made me laugh for 20 years. I'll miss you. RIP.
