Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

I can remember early in my radio career when I had to do just about any job to work my way up one of my jobs was working the board to carry your show in Flint, Michigan.
I always enjoyed your show especially when Fred was on! What was great is that when you first gave our tiny station 1470 AM a shout I remember both you and Fred laughing at how high on the AM dial we were. Saying, "Their signal only barley makes it out of their parking lot screw it lets take their money any way !" LOL He will be missed.
I have thoroughly enjoyed (and stalked) Fred for years (I even sent him my resume via FedEx from Hawaii a few years ago in the hope that I could work for him). Most recently I 'visited' with and followed Fred on Facebook. He was amused that I lived in Ocala, where one of his ex-wives lives. He also mentioned that he loved a butt shot in my Facebook photos.
I loved Fred's sense of humor (priceless), his love for his dogs and horses, his cowboy boots, and his appearances on the Don Imus Show. He brought much enjoyment and many laughs to my life over the years, and I miss him!
First heard Fred on Don's show, and later on a cross country trip I stopped by to visit The Auto Body Express in El Paso and also visited with Fred three more times in Santa Fe, NM. Being just a few months older than Fred and living a somewhat similar lifestyle I sure could relate to his down home ways. Was a constant fan on SIRIUS for loads of laughter every Sunday. RIP..... Fred and Condolences to the IMUS family, Pat and I will miss you.....................

Fred was a good man and funny as hell. I always looked forward to his take on things. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the Imus family at this time.
Eternal rest.
Fred can rest in peace,he left his mark in this world with his song writting, wit, just being a good person, more than most who pass.Thought's are with you Don
Fred will be missed by his audience, as I am sure he will be missed by his brother and other family. To me, his greatest appeal lay in his self-deprecating humor. He laughed harder at his own foibles than anything at the expense of others. Anyone who heard Fred wanted to have a cup of coffee (or a beer) with him and listen to more of his stories.
Unique is the word that is Fred. He was a member of our family and his death hurts.

So sorry. So sad. Fred was a good soul. My heart goes out to you & your family.
And Mr. Imus, that is a great picture you took of Fred. He was a cowboy. Amen.
