This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

What a tragedy!!! My family and I got to meet Fred years ago. Bob Sellman from the Auto Body Express arranged for us to go to the ranch and have a tour. Fred gave us that tour. It was just being built and he showed us where everything was going to be.I told him I planned on donating $5,000.00 to buy one of the first acres. He said, "Kid, save your money for college." I did donate it and am so happy I did. It is an amazing place. I also met Donnie and Wes on one of my trips to the ranch. One time Fred and the I-Man were at Bookends in New Jersey signing their book Two guys and Four corners and they both signed my book. Fred was a very kind man and I will miss him alot. I enjoyed his appearances on the Imus show. My heart goes out to Imus, Deidra, Wyatt and all of Fred's loved ones. Love, Geoffrey, Brian, Gary & Jeanne

Don,

It was always refreshing listening to the two of you interact.

It wasn't until I heard your brother say "I love you" everytime he finished a segment with you that I started doing the same things with my brothers. Those simple three words that men / brothers / sons never say.

My condolences to your family on the loss of your brother.

I always worked my morning routine around Fred's calls to the I-man. I never had a brother and always wondered what it would be like, I hope it would be just like Don and Fred. I hope you find as much love and peace where you are now as you had here on Earth.

Don I am very sorry for the passing of Fred. I am a long time fan of your television show and my favorite part was when Fred called in. Fred and I are a lot alike with a lot of similar ideas about politics and life. I live on the far east side of Tucson and could have been Fred's neigbor. Again I am very very sorry for your loss. I personaly thought Fred was right on about imigration and many other topics. Everyone that I know in Arizona are sad and we all love the Imus family. God bless you,Diedra and Wyatt

I enjoyed Fred's phone calls to the show. He was so funny. I loved his love of animals, how he kept water in his truck for his dog, how he talked about his horse. I also enjoyed his interaction with "Meagan". He will be truly be missed. Such a sweet, kind fella. Imagine how happy he is now with his dog and horse in heaven. RIP, Fred.

I will surely miss Fred's Trailor Park Bash on Saturday mornings. I'd even listen again to the same show on Sunday's. It was one big family, him, Missy and Don. They made my week and a bunch of other people's too. They were a part of the listener's family. They'd share their lives with us. When something personal happened in their lives, we felt it. Dear John's passing felt like my dog passed. Fred would joke about the ex's but you know he still had those connection's. Such a humble man. A true friend to his brother and family. They meant the world to him. He just moved on to the greater pasture in the sky. We'll all meet there someday. RIP sweet man.

R.I.P Fred Imus. I enjoyed when Fred would make his show appearances. As the Dave Matthews Band song says " Celebrate we will , cause life is short but sweet for certain".

Dear Mr. Imus and Family.
Please accept my whole-hearted condolences on the passing of Fred. So many things could and will be said; the likes of which I could only agree with. He wasn't just a periodic guest, but to me, an inspiration to connect and re-connect with my brothers on my Morning Show. I've lost both of them over the last decade and have yet to even attempt to fill that space on air, as the loss is truly without measure in any capacity. Prayers are all I can offer beyond these mere words, but prayers to all will be made. Bless you and yours, J.D.

so sad to hear of Fred's passing. My dad who passed away in 2004 was a big fan of both Don and Fred. each Christmas we would buy him gifts from the autobody express. Our prayers go out to the Imus family. I come from a large family of 5 brothers and lost one 6 years ago, it is not easy at any age.

Loved when Fred was on Don's show. Just mentioned to my wife last week I wish Fred was on more often. I could relate to Fred as I lived in Tucson in the mid 70's to early 80's. Will really miss him and so enjoyed him and Don bantering back and forth and you knew they truly loved one another. God bless and my sincere sympathies go out to Don and family.

One time when Don asked Fred about the Presidents speech from the night before,Freds comment was "after thirty seconds when I realized he wasnt going to resign I shut it off". we just found that type or sense of humor refreshingly honest and funny...God Bless Fred, and don know that you have lots of fans in NJ who wish you strength in this difficult time.

What a tragic loss for Don and the Imus family. Sending you all sincere condolences and may you find comfort in the many wonderful memories you have. It may not seem so now but grief is fleeting -- love is infinite.

I am so deeply saddened by the passing of Fred. Fred would say the things that we all wanted to say but were afraid to, My thoughts and prayers go out to Don and his family. Freds way of seeing the world will be missed.

Dear Iman,
I am so sorry about the loss of Fred. I always admired how you would tell him that you loved him before the end of every appearance on the air. That always made me smile and I hope that all the great memories will help ease the tremendous pain of losing your dear brother.
I listen every morning- you bring many laughs into my home.
Warmest regards and my condolences,
Laurie
