Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

I just heard about Fred. I am very sorry to hear this. I have so enjoyed both of you on your show. I have never met either of you, but yet this hurts so much. Losing a Brother or a Sister is something that you cannot even describe in words how you feel.
I lost my Sister in February of 2010. She, like Fred was a "Character"! Her words, laughter, love and courage still make me smile everyday.
We never ended a conversation without the words, "I Love You"! How lucky you, Fred, my Sister and myself are to have known this kind of relationship!
I have a place in mind that people who are really good, but yet, a little naughty in a good way go....I have named it, "Tilted Halo Heaven"! It is for the people that really loved Life and Loved to have Fun, and Laugh! I imagine that God probably loves to hang out there with them when He needs a Break! I love to think of Fred being there now!
Take Care Mr. Imus! Your Love for Each other never dies, but will live on forever! Love You!
So sorry to hear of Fred Imus" passing. My wife spoke to Fred years ago on a product order. It was like calling the White House and having Reagan answer the phone. The love between Don and Fred was writ large even over the radio waves. May God console you in your loss.
Fred was the one and only...Nobody made me laugh like Fred...God I will miss him...My prayers are with you.
I always enjoyed it when Fred called in to the radio show, I loved listening to his stories and I loved his sense of humor. I will miss his stories. RIP Fred.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I know that Fred was a good friend as wellas a brother.
He will be missed
So sorry about Fred Imus, such a wonderful man!!! I loved listening to his voice!! I always start my morning with a cup of Imus i!! I just love those Imus men!!!! I will miss you Fred !!! You will never be forgotten!!! Sending all my prayers and thoughts!!!!
Dear Imus family,
Fred will be missed by all of us,he was a great guy to listen to because he had common sense and was a straight shooter. I enjoyed his humor when he came on the show. Don ,it was very clear you two thought so much of each other and it always touched my heart when you would say goodbye when on the air . It struck a nerve on the sincerity of those words and remember Don that Fred knew that more than anyone. Take care all of you.
We miss you already Fred!
I listened to Fred every day while he was on the jolt Radio station in Tucson, Az. He was hilarious and will be missed by us Tucsonians who listened to him. After He left the Jolt so did I. Thanks for the memories Fred.
I was very sorry to hear about Fred. I enjoyed his appearances on Imus's show over many years. I have been listening to Imus in the Morning since he started here in NewYork in the '70s. My condolences to Don and family.
Dear Mr. Imus,
Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your brother, Fred. I am a long time listener
of your show and enjoyed Fred's humor and keen understanding of the news. He was taken too
soon and may he rest in peace.
My prayers are with you and your family.
Respectfully,
Audrey
Sorry about your loss Mr. Imus. I always thought about Fred at Christmas - many years ago the wife ordered me a bunch of Auto body Express stuff, and the great box that it was packed in - with the big truck on it- became a home for some ornaments. While the tee shirts are long gone. the black jacket with the turquoise buffalo insignia is still a staple of my spring and fall wardrobe. Not because I am a cheap bastard (which I am), but because it still looks great after all these years. So now I'll think of Fred each time I put it on-
God bless you and your family at this time

I remember Fred for his story about President Obama and your asking him if he watched the speech. He said well I watched for a few minutes and when I saw that he wasn't going to resign I turned it off!!!! We cracked up!!!
A great man likke you....
So sorry....
Just learned of Fred's passing. I've listened to the Imus Show since 1991 and always enjoyed hearing from Fred. I still have some shirts from the Autobody Express. I feel that Fred was a good and kind person who loved Don aand Don's family very much. I trust that "four legged fred" will find another person who cares for him as much as Fred did. Again, condolences from someone who thought of Fred as a friend and will miss his occasional appearance on the show.
I am sorry for your loss. I will miss his "Trailer Park Bash" as well as his appearances on "Imus in the Morning." He made me smile every week.
So sad and shocked to hear the news of Fred's passing. Funny, funny man. Always looked forward to him being on the show. My heart goes out to the family.
Rest in peace Fred. I still have a "four legged Fred" T shirt. Condolences to the Imus family.
Dear Mr. Imus,
Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. I know the millions of listeners and viewers of your show and Fred's Sirius show share in your grief. It's especially hard to loose a Fred. We're special people. As the Wizard of Oz said, " A heart is not judged by how much you love; but by how much you are loved by others." Fred was a giant. May he rest in peace.
I first heard the sad news about Fred from a GREAT tribute by Neil Cavuto on Fox NEWS. Neil gave Fred's life, humor, love, thoughts, etc. a real and closer meaning to his life.
I liked Fred's humor and especially his view about politicians and politics. I have a number of special hats, e.g. USA, FDNY NYPD 9-11, B-24 Liberator, and an I-fav Autobody Express / Sante Fe hat. It was purchased by my daughter - in -law after she had a very nice talk with Fred while at the shop. Long live his memory and a BIG thanks for his service and being a member of the 82nd Airborne. - God Bless ........ (long time fan from the 70s)
On a drive from Springfield, MO to Carlsbad, NM we detoured to the Auto Body Express to talk to Fred Imus. He was the same in person that he was on the radio. Although I will never forget my visit with him, I am glad I took pictures.
I am so sorry for the loss of Fred Imus...he was a really good man and I always enjoyed it when he called in to his brother Don's show.
Rest in peace, dear Fred Imus...and my sympathy to Don Imus and his family on their loss.
God made the mold and said , everyone this is Fred, Then he broke it, There will never be another, so enjoy him ,boy did we ever,Rest in peace Fred,we will miss you
