Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

I met you both at RJ julia's in Madison CT for a book signing of Two Brothers Four Corners. It was a great comfort to look at my book again. I finally met Fred after exchanging vitamins for a hat and a jacket. I fired first by sending him the vitamins. He said What if I don't complete my part of the deal. I replied It was more important to get the vitamins in you than the jacket on me. We had a good laugh. Unpretentious and down to earth, I'll miss him like thousands of others. God bless all of you and the work you do out west.
John
Sorry for your loss.
Having lost my younger brother I can only image what you are going through.
Fred's talks with you were part of my mornings for many years.
He will be missed.
Thanks Fred...You made me laugh and smoothed out the rough edges. You will be missed.
I will miss Fred calling in on the show, he was very funny.Condolences to Imus and his family.
Iman,I am very sorry for your loss.It was always good radio whenever he was on. I will always remember how each segment with your brother ended with" I LOVE YOU"
I met Fred on a dating site 5 or more years ago, I was in CT and he was in AZ, he would get quite wild with his correspondence and picture sending as if he was trying to shock me..fat chance of that ever happening. As time went on he'd inquire as to my well being then tell some story about his latest escapade with someone on Craig's List. Recently I encouraged him to get back on the site where we met but he said he'd been kicked off. He befriended me on Facebook and never posted a thing. Always made me laugh even though his notes from the trailer park were infrequent, I'll miss getting them.
Sorry for the loss of your brother, Don.
Sincerely, Lee Brennan
My Sincere condolences to the Imus family, Fred is now free to roam and spread his humor in heaven.
After losing my only sister, I know what a tough loss this is for you. Listening to the two of you interacting always brought a smile and many times a hearty laugh. Now he and Dear John are reunited. Sure wish he would have stayed around longer. My prayers to you and your famiily.
My deepest condolences on Fred's passing. The banter between both of you on the show was great. I always looked forward to his appearances as your guest.
Fred, you made me laugh. You always made me laugh. You don't know our family, but we sure know yours, because of how you brothers put it out there, the real deal. Don's faith always comes through even when he's joking, and will sustain him. The baby Jesus won this one. Fred's, "it is what it is" image, a man's man, projects a legacy for Wyatt, such strong influences in a young man's life, Fred and Don. To the viewing audience Fred seemed to always be exactly what he was, never trying to be anybody different. Heartfelt condolences, Fred will be missed.
To who may read this. Wow what a loss < i have only been a trailer park trash fan,but the only reason i paid for that damn cable was folks like Fred.I know his family must feel

RIP Fred. You were a hoot!! Deepest sympathy to the Imus family, both at home and on air.
I am shocked and saddened to hear of Fred's passing. I've been a fan of the both of you since 71. You even inspired me to give radio a shot back in the late 70's. I did work for WBAB in Long Island for a while. Fred was great and I'll never forget one of his tips for driving, "Remember to keep your steering wheel in the upition, so your date doesn't hit her head." God bless you Fred, I'm sure they are trying to figure you out up in Heaven.
To the Imus Family,
I was stunned and greatly saddened when I heard the news. I have lost 2 brothers and a sister (cancer), both my parents and my sister-in-law (cancer) and therefore understand the pain. I guess I felt I knew Fred even though I only listened to him on the show. I always got a laugh or two when he was on the show and I enjoyed hearing him laugh. My sense was he was a good, kind and down to earth guy. His spirit will be with you, Don, until you see him again some day. God bless you Fred!
I loved the fact that Don and Fred always told each other I love you at the end of a call. God Bless.
There is not a lot of humor left these days. I always got a great deal of enjoyment every time Fred was on the air with Don. I will miss that banter very much.
Bless you and yours in this time of sorry. I will have a beer and treat his passing as a wake.
Imus, I often wished I told my brothers I loved them, too late now, I would listen to you and Fred sign-off and think how blessed you were to have had that opportunity.
. God bless Fred
Fred was the kindest, gentlest, most good-hearted, talented, intelligent and funniest friend I ever had. The times we spent hangin' out together, over three decades, were some of the best days of my life. Irreplaceable, was he. Nor have I ever seen two brothers that loved each other so much. My heart goes out to Don and Dierdre and Donnie and all the family.
No matter where I have lived, from New York to Martha's Vineyard to Jupiter, Florida to where I now spend my summers - at the end of the earth, Cape Breton, N ova Scotia, I always made sure I could listen to Imus In the Morning - via the internet. I don't have to tell you, you are one unique individual. You and your brother seemed to be so genuinely real and shared a bond that is reserved for brothers and sisters who actually Love each other. I'm certain there will be a void in your lives, but, we can rest assured Fred went to a far better, peaceful place. The Imus Family is in my prayers. Take care.
We met Fred in Santa Fe at his old store. We were staying across the street and the Hotel Santa fe and were in town to ski all over the state. We sat and talked to Fred and he told us how difficult it was to get the store started and now trying to operate it. I told him that maybe he needed to be closer to the square, but he said "they'll find me." Good bye good friend. He found you.
Always made us laugh, especially stories about four legged fred. RIP, you will be missed
