This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

I remember when Fred had to admit to losing a game of tick tack toe to a rooster.
Fred was unapologetic. He said that chicken played every day.
God bless Fred and Four Legged Fred too.

I was so sad to hear about Fred's passing. I still have my Autobody Express t-shirt and hat.
Your sadness will ease with all the great memories you all have of him and his unique sense of humor.

Mr. Imus, I'm so sorry for the loss of your brother. He seemed to be able to enjoy the private life that you've had to struggle to attain at times. I lost my sister to ovarian cancer June 9,2008. They say time is the great healer...........I'm still waiting.

Don Imus and Family.
Deeply saddened to hear of Fred's passing. Always enjoyed his participation in the Imus show all these many years and enjoyed his Trailer Park Bash show also. Fred had a great sense of humor. I was touched by the strong bond between Don and Fred. Gone too soon and it's a sad time for my home town, Tucson.

My sincere condolences to the entire Imus family. Most of us regulars loved Fred because we could relate to him. We don't really know TImes Square and Manhattan, but we do know Circle K, vintage cars, and Harley Davidson's. Fred was "real". The "yuks" he helped us all enjoy will be forever treasured and sorely missed.

So sorry for your loss, it was obvious that you loved Fred very much.
The world lost a good & decent man.
I am sure Fred is keeping God in stitches with his dry sense of humor.

Icon: A person or thing regarded as a representative symbol of something

Fred Imus was an American Icon in many ways. A symbol of the working man, a person willing to share his perspective on life, a snapshot of country life and an appreciation for the simple things. I never bought his gruff persona as the "real Fred" , like his brother Don it was a disguise for the generous and caring human beings they both really are. Rather than feel sorrow I think I'll have a shot of Jack Daniel and howl at the moon tonight in memory of Fred, some how I think that's what he would have wanted.....

I only knew Fred when he called in the Imus Show. Fred always made me laugh. He was naturally funny and a very sweet soul. I send my heartfelt sympathy to Don and all of Fred's family. Fred will be missed by me and so many. God Bless You.

Fred epitomized the words "grounded" and "his own man". He lived his life at his own pace, and not by someone else's leave.

His radio visits to Don were priceless, and he had the driest of wit. The world is better for his being here.

I shall miss him.

God bless him. I know he's with "Willie, Waylon, and the boys".

May God grant the Imus' peace and serenity.

I was in disbelief when I heard the news, It was like hearing bad news you weren't expecting about a close family member. I can see that I was not alone in feeling that way. You should know that the two of you casually talking, joking and teasing each other drew us into your lives without realizing how very much so until we lost one half of you. You were like the two sides of the comedy-drama masks: The two faces of one character. The icing on the cake was when you signed off with "I love you" and his reply, "I love you too" always made me smile inside and outside even. WABC radio with Mark Simone and crew did a great job today of memoralizing Fred by replaying many of your best chats, pithy, self-deprecating and ironic wit. RIP. Claudia from Staten Island, NY.

Dear Mr.Imus,
I just felt compelled to let you know my family shares the loss of your family in the passing of Fred. We have been part of the listening audience through many years and many changes in your personal and broadcasting career. Our lives have been rewarded with insights and blessed with humor. We will miss Fred and hope you will share something in the way of a tribute to help all of us with the issue of "closure" (whatever that means). There is no closure as we will never forget Fred. As with your family, he will forever be in our hearts and minds.

Longtime listener & fan. I actually met Fred when I was in Santa Fe. We went to the auto-body shop & I bought an Imus Hat & Shirt from Fred. He was very pleasant & happy to see fans of your program. The large dog was present but did not move from Fred"s side. Very sorry for your loss he was a good brother & those mean a lot in our lifetime. Hang-in there I-Man. Bob

I always record the show, and just found out that Fred moved on. I feel very bad for his family and friends. It seems there aren't many "Freds" around anymore, and this nation is softer and weaker for it. Fred was the guy you wanted with you when it hit the fan. You wanted him in the foxhole with you. Fred is the guy you want in the trailer next door, because he is a good neighbor. Great moments: 1) Fred talking to "Meaghan" McDowell wanting to get her stuck in his trailer door, so he could try to push her out; 2) Fred telling about his experience with online dating services, and asking the question, "What does a few pounds overweight mean to you?"
Fred and I have almost identical musical taste. How could I not love him? Today, I have one wish: to have a cooler or two of Schlitz, Fred, the guys from the I-Man's show (including McCord), a nice cool evening, and a campfire. Then just sit back, listen, and enjoy the stories and the coolies. He was hands down, the best guest the show ever had. And probably, the best brother anyone ever had. My thoughts, and prayers, are with all who loved him.

Sorry for you loss. Fred will certainly be missed. I will long remember Don and Fred talking as Don attempted to mine Fred for information and trends and of course how thing were in New Mexico.
