This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. A very sad day. Loved when he was on the show and his funny quips; two especially make me laugh every time I think of them. Watching State of the Union speech long enough to realize he wasn't resigning and stuffing Megan in his double wide door frame trying to shove her out. I know I could be around this person all day long. God Bless you Fred and family. RIP

Don,
Sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed it when your brother was on your show. I lost my father and a sister, this past year, so I know how difficult it is. May God bless you, your brother and your family.
All My Love,
John

What a character! Talk about the Real Deal!

I am so sorry for all the Imus Clan and Fred's friends, they must feel a tremendous loss.

A unique and funny man, in many ways he set the standard for the other show guests.

When Charles left I went through a mini depression that my freinds (non-listeners) cound not understand.

Now I am crying like I've lost my dog.

Take care Fred!

Imus, you too!

Dear Imus family,

Our family was deeply saddened to hear of Fred's passing. We loved hearing him on your show as he always brought a smile to our face. If I may quote an old Irish saying " Death leaves a heartache no one can heal ~ Love leaves a memory no one can steal"!
Our deepest sympathy and prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Mr. Imus:

I have decades of wonderful and happy memories of your show and also from working with other volunteers on your radiothon going back to the days when we were volunteering on West 58th Street.

My husband and I came with hundreds of your fans to Arizona and we went to Santa Fe even though your trip was cancelled. We stopped at your lovely shop and I bought a beautiful black hat. The salesperson brought that hat to Fred who was kind enough to sign the band inside the hat. I cannot tell you how many laugh-out-loud times I enjoyed when Fred was on your show. He was such a character and a treasure.

I was shocked to hear news. We are so sorry for your great loss. Our sympathy and prayers for the Imus Family.

As an "Imus in The Morning" fan from Day #1 on WNBC-AM, I've always enjoyed Fred Imus's sly wit, while appreciating how he contributed to the "Imus in The Morning" entertainment heritage. That heritage comprised "Four Legged Fred", Autobody Express, the missing watermelon, Donny Imus's football heroics, and Fred's delivery and timing as he gently, humorously busted his brother and anyone else who was in Fred's crosshairs. As it happens, sadly, Fred was really on his game during his recent call-ins. He sounded great. The man lived his life as he wanted, and leaves an indelible entertainment memory. May God bless and rest this gentleman's soul.

Imus:

So sad and surprised upon hearing the sad news of your brother, Fred passing on

You two were so good together, Fred refused to change and you lovingly always let Fred be Fred

I always respected the way that you quietly made sure that your brother Fred was always safe and comfortable

Imus when you go to bed tonight, take comfort in knowing that you were a great brother to Fred and that he loved you as much as you loved him !!!!

PS Your Mother and Father would be very proud of the Imus brothers and the love and respect you had for each other

It will be sad that the two of you will never be together again, but it was a very good run.

Love you Imus

My father was a huge fan, who, like Fred, died at the age of 69. Far too young. My brother got your book (signed by you and Fred) as a gift for my dad. I think listening to your show, the back and forth with your brother, was one of the few pleasures my dad had while on this earth (other than his family and friends). Thank you, Don and Fred for making us laugh. R.I.P. Christine O.

Imus ~
I have been listening to you since the 70's and you are a part of my every weekday morning. I was so shocked and sad to hear that your brother Fred has died. I have had a younger sister pass, and I know the heartbreak you are feeling. My deepest condolences on your loss. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I always enjoyed the banter between the two brothers and how each signed off with "I love you." It made my time commuting to work tolerable and fun. Their voices became so familiar to me over the years that I felt as though I knew them personally. I was surprised to hear of Fred's death this morning, and I would like to express my condolences to the family.

Rest in peace, Fred. You always put a smile on my face. I will miss and never forget the sound of your voice on the radio.

I-Man, so sorry to hear of Fred's death. He was a funny character with a laid-back personality.

I always enjoyed when he was on the show. My "all time" favorite Fred line was one that he said recently, regarding whether or not he watched Obama's speech on TV. His answer was, "I watched it for about 5 minutes, up until the point when I realized he wasn't going to resign". Great line! God bless!

We always enjoyed the segments that you were on in the morning. Gone too soon...our condolenses go to the family and esp. Don as you never get over losing a brother--we both have and there are times whn you would just like to sit with them one more time. I was always impressed by your ending...I Love You...from two "crusty" old characters, it was very touching.

Dear Imus:

Fred's speaking voice reminded me of Willie Nelson's singing voice. I could always detect a proud smile in your voice when Fred was on your show. You are very lucky to have all of those radio show archives to rely on when you want to hear Fred's voice, remember his humor and enjoy the wonderful camaraderie that the two of you shared. I'm sorry for your loss but happy that you shared Fred with us.

Thank you,

Fred was what Don really wanted (wants) to be inside. They both had a great sense of humor but Fred was always the "innocent smuck" who really more often than not got the last laugh. I will never forget the web cam and interview where Fred had the blow up female doll - I laughed until I was crying

Fred - You were a delightful ol' fart. Heaven's (or Hell's) angels are in for the time of their Lifes!! (or After Lifes - as it were). Thanks for Years of good vibes.
