Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

rest in peace fred stay strong iman.
As a long-time listener (your first day on WNBC in New York was startling from the previous Joe O'Brien) I felt I got to know Fred from his many appearances on the show - his dry wit, his unique view of the world much like my favorite George Carlin - hopefully they are having a good laugh now as they look down on this mess!!
My prayers are with you and your family as you send Fred on his way - remember always that the love that the two of you expressed for each other in a public forum has been an inspiration to all!!

Don, I have written several times to ask for more Fred Imus on the show. No other guest made me smile more than Fred. His off-color jokes, his dead pan delivery and his genuine, simple outlook on life were the highlights of my mornings. The last time I remember hearing Fred was when he commented on an Obama speech and said he turned it off after he realized that he was going to resign. Take care of yourself Fred. I just imagine Fred walking with "four-leg Fred" and his other dogs in the afterlife. Jesus will use Fred as an example of what it means to live in the moment. May God Bless You and Keep You Fred Imus.
Fred always made me laugh. His stories were great and his sense of humor was even better. I always looked forward to his appearance on Imus.
What a beautiful relationship they had - their brotherly love shined through.
RIP Fred. The entire Imus family is in my thoughts and prayers.
The funniest segment was when Fred called in and started talking about his experiences with online dating....hysterical.
Then there was the time that Fred engaged in lively banter with "Megan McDowell"....timeless!
He will be sorely missed.
We have grown fond of your family and are greatly saddened by your loss. We want to express our heartfelt sympathy and let you know we prayed for you today. My favorite Fred line recently was when Don asked him if he'd seen the latest Obama State of the Union address and Fred replied, in as droll a tone as could be mustered, "as soon as I realized he wasn't announcing his resignation I lost interest and turned it off...." Classic Fred. On-point and cuttingly accurate. He will be missed.
PS please acquire and read "Heaven is for Real." A quick read, it will alter your perspective of life now and later
My condolences to the Imus family for the loss of a beautiful person.
Loved Fred on the show, he was great. It was great to see the love
between brothers!
I will miss Fred's participation in the radio and tv show. Fred understood loyalty, family and friendship. Piece to the Imus family
Don,
Here's to your brother. I always felt like he could have been mine too. We were the same age and shared many of the same thoughts on life. I am sorry his is finished,
I will miss him.
May the Sweet Baby Jesus bless you, Deirdre, and all those you care about.
RIP Fred Imus.
Rest in Peace
Enjoyed listeng to fred on Trailer Park Bash as well as when he appeared on Imus in the morning. You were a true original...RIP.
I remember Fred and his Auto Body Express. I was able to get a real appreciation for vintage cars by paying attention to his description of the cars he refurbished. Of course he lost his shirt and Dons also when they went into the merchandise business. Fred, you and your great stories will be missed.
Dear Don and Family, GOD KNOWS what a loss all of you have suffered, because, we the fans are hurting with you, GOD BLESS ALL!!
RIP Fred you were a good man
Don,
Long time listner, I was always in awe of the obvious love you and your brother shared. You never failed to end the conversatio with I love you. The best Fred Imus story is the one where he left the melons in the back of his car and did not know where the odor was coming from. Too funny. RIP FRED - for all your funny antics you seemed like a genuinely good man.
A little bit of me to past away on hereing the news. Rest my fellow soul.
Fred was my favorite guest on your show. Even though he was not a native Texan( as I am ) I always thought of him as a fellow Texan. He was funny, smart and out spoken.
I will truly miss his appearance on your show.
Fred's humor was awsome-I use his jokes everyday ,
"When I was first married I put mt wife and my dog in the trunk of my car and drove around for an hour or so and when I opened the trunk my dog was the only one glad to see me"
RIP Fred
So long Fred. You were a good person.
My heart sank when I heard about Fred's passing, he made me smile when he was on. I still can't look at a cantaloupe without recalling the lost cantaloupe story and how much I laughed. Fred will be greatly missed by this long time listener. My thoughts are with the IMAN and his family.
To the Imus clan:
With a heavy heart and shock in soul I noted the passing of Fred Imus yesterday. Never met him unfortunately but I would not miss him
when scheduled to have a chat with his brother Don.
RIP Fred.
My sincere condolences to his family.

I was very saddened to hear the news of the passing of Fred Imus. I lost my brother two years ago and know that unlike the death of a parent, the death of a sibling reaches you on a different level. My heartfelt condolences to you Don and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Fred was the greatest. His wit was subtle and took a load off everyone. He will be missed.
While running my morning paper route, I was listening to the Sunday 2am replay of Trailer Park Bash, when the inserted message from Elizabeth Cook announcing that Fred Imus had passed away. I filled with emotion, realizing that the show will not be the same without antics of Fred, Buckskin and Missy. As I listen to the show, each song took on a different meaning, realizing that it was Fred's last song list, and his final comment "I can think of no better way to take us out of here than Randy Travis singing A Closer Walk With Thee". Rest In Peace Fred as you walk close the HIM.
. LOVED THE PHONE CALLS TO YOUR BROTHER DON'S SHOW , THOSE WERE THE BEST !
YOUR RADIO SHOW WAS GOOD TOO . SO SORRY YOU HAD TO LEAVE US SO SOON . YOU WILL BE MISSED
