Bo Dietl Needs to Get His Facts Straight
The Imus Ranch Golf Outing is a wonderful, fun, feel-good event every year. Too bad Bo Dietl’s intimidating foursome scares its competitors into submission.
“Everybody knows you cheated, but everybody was afraid to say anything,” Imus told Bo. “Because you were playing with three gangsters, and you’re armed.”
A former NYPD detective, Bo was riled up today about the fiery debate in the House last week between New York Reps. Anthony Weiner, a Democrat, and Peter King, a Republican, about a health care bill for 9/11 first responders.
“Congressman little Weiner there from Brooklyn, he’s getting into a fight with the wrong guy, my friend Peter King, who is a boxer, who could box him into a corner anytime,” said Bo.
Unfortunately for King, his battle with Weiner is not a physical brawl but a legislative one. As a member of the majority Party, Weiner changed the voting procedure on the bill from a straight majority vote to a two-thirds majority vote, which Bo claimed he did to ensure the bill would not pass.
Yet after conferring with Bernard and Charles, it was clear to Imus that Weiner, who would join the I-Man later this morning, changed the rules to prevent Republicans from adding amendments to the bill.
One amendment, according to Bernard, would have exempted illegal immigrants from the bill. “They wanted to avoid that,” he explained. But Weiner probably also had another motive: to paint the Republicans as the party of “No.”
Both congressmen, therefore, are trying to paint each other as ineffective members of their respective Parties, which is quite different from Bo’s claim that Weiner merely didn’t want the bill to pass.
Either way, Bo was off and running minutes later on some tangent about taxes, which Imus mercifully ended by cutting to commercial.
