Rosanne Cash Prepares Imus for the Ivy League
On her way to Harvard for a speaking engagement following her interview with Imus (you know, like most guests), Rosanne Cash sat down for a few moments between songs to tell Imus what else she’ll do up in Cambridge.
“They offered me the chance to speak to any expert I want on any subject,” said Cash, whose most recent album The List came out last year. “So I asked if there was a theoretical physicist who could teach me about parallel universes.”
She expounded on the “multi-verse theory,” which says that for every choice you make, the choice you didn’t make opens up a parallel universe.
Leading Imus to wonder, “Is this from smoking too much weed all these years?”
Laughing, Cash insisted this is now standard physics. Yes, in college dorm rooms everywhere.
Cash’s memoir comes out in August, and when Imus asked if she tells everything, she replied, “No, of course not.” Then, to further endear himself to Cash, Imus brought up her ex-husband Rodney Crowell while her current husband John Leventhal, who plays guitar in her band, was sitting a few feet away.
“He’s a great songwriter,” Cash said through gritted teeth about Crowell.
Imus noted that she didn’t take his advice and write a book about the list of essential country songs given her by her father Johnny Cash. But, then again, that’s probably why she’s doing so well.
