Stuart Taylor Will Not Implant PETN Anywhere On His Body (We Think)
Sometimes Imus thinks about things other than himself, and such was the case during last week's State of the Union address when President Obama criticized the Supreme Court for a recent decision on campaign finance rules.
"I thought, 'Man, I wish we could get Stuart Taylor on the phone,'" said Imus.
Nine days later, Imus's wish came true, as Taylor, a legal whiz who writes for National Journal and Newsweek, offered his view on the controversial incident in question.
"I think it's perfectly fine for the President to criticize the Supreme Court, and to criticize them harshly," he said. "I think doing it when they're a captive audience sitting right in front of and surrounded by cheering Democrats is not the right place or time."
Calling the remarks a "slight lack of class" by Obama, Taylor added that Justice Sam Alito, who mouthed "not true" in response to Obama's comments, had also misbehaved.
What's more, Obama's critiques were not entirely accurate. The Court had not, as Obama intimated, undone more than a century of law ("It was more like 63 years," said Taylor), nor had they made it permissible for foreign corporations to spend unlimited money on American elections.
"There's a separate provision of the law the bars foreign corporations, foreign individuals, any foreign controlled entity, or just about, from spending money on American elections," Taylor said, but allowed that there is some ambiguity.
"Let's say a foreign billionaire buys control of Citibank, which is an American corporation — would they be able to spend?" Taylor offered. "That's a little complicated."
Taylor had some complaints of his own this morning, namely with the Obama administration's decision to cease questioning the attempted Christmas Day underpants bomber after merely 50 minutes, and to then offer him Miranda rights and a lawyer.
"It was an idiotic thing to do," said Taylor. Even stupider, he believes, was Holder sending a 5-page letter to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell defending the decision, and committing to act similarly in the future.
"Nine years after 9-11, we should have learned that it's time to rethink a lot of things," said Taylor.
Because recent reports show that the terrorists are definitely thinking outside the box, or at least inside the body. Charles told Imus just this morning about female terrorists implanting the explosive PETN into their breasts.
Don't worry, because Imus already has a name for these gals: "The Boobie Bombers."
