Glenn Beck Didn't Weep Publicly Today...Yet
A man so unstable he cried on national television the other day, FOX News's Glenn Beck chatted with Imus today about his instability, his love for America, and his indifference about music.
Pressed by Imus to name the kind of music he enjoys, Beck was unable to settle on anything. As such, Imus mentioned his friend Andy Rooney's inability to really hear music, but was interrupted by his guest's observation that if Rooney's wife loved him, she'd tell him to clip his nose hairs and his eyebrows.
"Now it's my job to make you feel horrible," Imus said. "His wife passed away. There's nobody to tell him about his eyebrows."
In light of his poor taste, Beck suggested that now might be a good time to joke about Imus having stage II prostate cancer. Imus agreed, and pointed out that he himself had made several jokes about it already.
But back to Beck's crying episode.
"I did become Tammy Faye Baker," he conceded. "Here's the problem with me: I care. I truly believe that we are in real trouble with our constitution and our country."
He said that the "weasels" in Washington don't actually worry about the country the way he does, and that they are destroying it.
"I see how hungry America is just to do the right thing," Beck went on. "People will sacrifice anything for their children! If it means we all go out and have to grow potatoes and we have to eat potatoes and live in real, abject poverty to set this thing right so our children can have a better future-we'll do it!"
As he continued to wander slightly off the reservation, Beck added that the people in power would stomp on anybody and everybody.
"I feel like my country is dying, and people won't wake up," he said. "Americans are starving for somebody just to be themselves, and to tell them the truth. Where are they in the media? Where are they in Washington? They're nowhere."
"You know what the problem is?" Imus asked. "You're 100 percent right. I don't know if I want you on TV crying or freaking out, but you're absolutely correct."
Beck said he just doesn't care anymore how he appears. "Just wake up!" he begged Americans.
Imus believes Beck's attitude can effect some change, but his volatility makes us nervous. "You can't get all menopausal on us," the I-Man cautioned.
