The Rosenberg Return
Sid Rosenberg returned to the Imus in the Morning program today with gusto, gushing, "I missed you!" to Imus, right off the bat. Then, he wondered why so many months had passed since his last appearance.
Imus contended Sid had "sucked" the last few times he came on, and had shirked certain responsibilities given him. Sid shot back that he had only sucked once, and missed one assignment.
"I'm being shunned by the I-Man!" Sid moaned. "After ten years together, I gotta tell you, it's very disappointing."
Sid's new gig in Miami is on WQAM 560AM, home of the Miami Dolphins and the University of Miami Hurricanes. He took over the 10am-2pm midday show from Neil Rogers, whom he called "legendary."
"He was a huge star down here," said Sid. Rogers was fired because his terrible ratings did not justify his exorbitant salary. Enter Sid.
Imus, however, was concerned with Rogers's welfare. "He's somewhere up in Canada," Sid said. "I think he goes to the track everyday, I think he's got some live-in boyfriend."
Speaking of man-love, Imus appeared on Sean Hannity's show last night. During an interview that covered various high-minded topics, Sid noticed just one thing: nobody mentioned his name.
"There was a time you used to mention me on those shows," he said, sadly. "You went on Larry King and mentioned me, remember that, I-Man?"
Nobody remembers that except for you, Sid.
On to sports, Sid predicted that the Minnesota Vikings and the New England Patriots would face off in the Superbowl, which Imus called "not a bad pick."
"That's a great pick!" Sid cried. "What do you mean it's not a bad pick? I've got this incredible urge to fly up to New York and just throw you around the WABC studio like a cabbage patch doll."
Which suited Imus just fine, since he was in the Fox Business Network studio.
Sid managed to get in a plug for his forthcoming book, You're Wrong and You're Ugly, which is out next March. One particular chapter covers David Gregory, Keith Olbermann, Nancy Grace, Mike Golic, and Jeff Greenfield. Its title?
"If You're In This Chapter, That Means I Hate Your Guts."
