This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Remembering Fred Imus

Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69

My thoughts and prayers to the entire Imus family. Fred was one of a kind and a truly enjoyable character. While it was not my style of music, I frequently would tune in to Trailer Park Bash for non-stop chuckling at the dialogue of Fred, Missy and Buckwheat. Of course Fred would have a "Buckwheat" on his show. The Internet dating sites will miss this character.

Fred was always a bright spot when he called in to the Imus program. His musings on life and love were always humorous, and he had the ability to "tell it like it is". Too bad none of Fred's marriages turned out as well as Don's......but then he had his dogs and horses to keep him company!

We're gonna sorely miss you, Fred.

Fred was my age, so his passing was a wake-up call for me that this thing called life does not go on forever. Everytime you spoke with Fred on your show, you ended by saying to him "I love you", this simple act betrayed your hard crusted exterior. I hope you will always remember those days that the two of you shared as brothers and what a great lesson your relationship has passed on to the rest of us.

I have always enjoyed Don's obvious love of Fred whenever they were on the phone or in the studios. Next to that,,those deep all-knowing laughs, that they know only half of their stories can be told ! R.I.P. Fred.

When you develop a habit of listening to a specific show every morning for over 20 years, a sense of family develops between the show and the listener. It's no more evident than the Imus show. If Don was the irascible taskmaster uncle, then Fred was the kindly sardonic uncle whose presence was like a warm familiar blanket. This is what makes the show so inviting. Fred's appearances were so welcome because we could breathe a sigh of relief at his affable and approachable humor. He was real. Believable. He wasn't a character. If the Imus show is anything, it's honest. I wouldn't trade Don, Bernie, Lou, Rob, Dierdre, Wyatt et al for anyone else. It may be dysfunction at its most entertaining, but its my family. Losing Fred will be felt for awhile. He was the real deal, and I hope that the IMan and family find peace in his memory. God bless for all the great work that you do Don. Fred's in a double wide outside the pearly gates. He was an original.

God Bless Fred and everyone in the Imus family. Fred's call in segment brought many laughs to start my mornings. Your banter and genuine sentiments welcomed us into your family. Wishing you comfort from your memories and love. Take care of each other. God's Speed, Fred. You will be greatly missed by lots of people you never met but touched with your humor and humility.

When a person has the ability to make you laugh without trying that is a true gift.. my wife and I enjoyed so much when Fred would be on the show.

Fred was a contemporary of mine. I think that he was a month older than I am. His sense of humor was unique. God was good to him insofar as he went to bed and didn't wake up. I hope that God is that good to me. Rest in peace Fred. Friday's will not be the same without you.

I am sorry to hear about Fred death. He had the whit and counterbalance to keep Don straight and narrow. He had a great spirit for life. I will miss him. God Bless the Imus family.

Dear Don and family,
I was saddened to hear of Fred's death. He was a integral part of the show when I became a fan many years ago. the snarky but good-natured banter was entertaining and reminded me of the love between me and my brother. I actually own and wear an AutoExpresss blue denim jacket with the Texas flag on the back with the logos on the front pocket. Fred's off-handed comments were priceless. Cold blue steel comes to mind. I know this is a hard time for you and you grieve the loss of your brother. I hope that the memories of Fred outweigh the tears.
Love you, Don. blessings,

Fred Imus was a classic one of a kind man. From all accounts I have heard and read about him over the years he was multi talented. Horseman, classic car restorer and radio personality, just to name a few. I still ocassionally get a good laugh recalling one of his many life stories he had shared with the audience over the years. I think my favorite was the account of him throwing a vacuum cleaner through the picture window of his home after his wife had nagged him relentlesly to have the vacuum repaired. There is no doubt in my mind that was an actual event. Fred Imus will be missed but my memory of him lives on.

years ago i placed an order with auto body express and was suprised to hear that fred himself answered the phone. then a few weeks later i called again and started talking to what i thought was fred but it was his message machine. he spoke on his message just like his real voice. fred was funny guy; i like the story of his friend who was planning on being cremated and fred offered to let him sit in his trailer while he lit it on fire so his friend could save some money. my kind of humor.
rest in peace fred. condolences to family. by the way, the imus show, any imus show , is the best radio, AND TV program on the airwaves and fred was a great guest.

I listen to the pod casts every day. I don't download every segment, but I ALWAYS downloaded Fred. He made me laugh so hard every time he was on. Loved Fred. Going to miss him a lot.

I-Man, your deep and abiding affection for your brother over the years served to inspire and improve my relations with my brother. I was always touched when you ended each conversation with "I love You". Fred was a unique gift from God which we got to share with you. I know it is a cliche but only time will lessen the pain of your loss. I pray for you and your family.

Fred was one of those rare guys in life that you look forward to visiting with, but the visits are never long enough and you can't wait until the next time. Humorous and smart, he will be missed. I liked and use his take on the president's speechs, " I listened until it was obvious he wasn't going to resign, then changed to ESPN". One of a kind.
