Russ Salzberg
Russ is a sports anchor for New York City radio and television, although he has guest starred on a couple New York City-based dramas. He is currently affiliated with WWOR My 9 TV News. A New York City native, he grew up in Brooklyn, graduating from Brooklyn Tech in 1969. He continued his education in Canada at Loyola College in Montreal, Quebec, leading to his first sports anchor job in Toronto, Ontario, at CITY-TV. His interviews have led to a couple memorable interchanges. In 1999 he cut short a Mike Tyson interview when the boxer wouldn't moderate his language, and after asking George Steinbrenner if he'd mellowed during a 2006 exchange, Steinbrenner grabbed Russ by the neck and pretended to punch him. Russ is a two time recipient of the New York (local) Emmy Award for his work as a writer and segment producer, along with multiple nominations. He also donates his time to various charities, including participating in Jerry Lewis' annual MDA telethon. He is married, with two daughters.
