Michael Graham on Obama-Care: "It Already Sucks!"
A gift landed in Michael Graham’s lap a few days ago, in the form of a naked White House Chief-of-Staff (Rahm Emanuel) allegedly threatening a now former Democratic Congressman (Eric Massa) in the shower of the House of Representatives gym.
Graham, who hosts a talk radio show on 96.9FM in Boston, thus declared, “I’m the luckiest man on the face of the earth.”
He may have spoken too soon. Chatting with Imus today via satellite from Newton, Massachusetts, Graham couldn’t quite get the timing right, leading Imus to yell, “Keep talking!” and to call his guest, affectionately, “numb nuts.”
Trying to get the I-Man back on his side, Graham pointed out the humor of Massa responding to the question of whether he was gay by telling Larry King to “ask the 10,000 sailors that I served with in the Navy.”
Warner Wolf, who once took an FBI interrogation course, offered the expert observation that Massa was not being entirely truthful in his interview with King, or with anybody else for that matter, because he did not directly answer the questions posed to him.
“You know someone’s lying when they’re a member of Congress,” said Graham. “You also know someone’s lying when they’re a member of Congress talking about the health care plans.”
A Massachusetts resident, Graham likes former Governor Mitt Romney, and predicts that if the 2012 Presidential election is about the economy, Romney will be the Republican nominee. He criticized Romney, however, for working with the Democratic legislature to give Massachusetts residents a version of health care similar to what President Obama is trying to pass for the entire country.
“We have Obama care now,” said Graham. “It already sucks!”
Obama has been trying to pass his bill for almost a year, and has not once pointed to Massachusetts as an example of why reform is so necessary.
“He never mentions it because Massachusetts has the highest premiums for insurance,” said Graham. “We spend more than anyone on health care. It’s killing business, and the cost of it is breaking the budget.”
Massa claimed Obama’s desperation to pass health care reform was the basis for his steamy interaction with Emanuel in the shower. But keep in mind, Massa thinks tickling and jumping into a pile with his staffers is normal Congressional behavior.
“I get asked quite often what it’s like to hang out with a big star like Don Imus,” said Graham. “And I always say, ‘Two words: tickle fight.’”
