Craig Crawford is Keeping the I-Man Busy
Craig Crawford, the political analyst and Congressional Quarterly blogger, sent the I-Man a leather-bound copy of most recent book Listen Up, Mr. President! It was a heartfelt gesture, to say the least.
"I was going to bring it to the studio this morning," Imus said. "But I couldn't find it."
Crawford is always juggling several projects, one of which is of utmost importance right now: sending shelter boxes to Haiti. The boxes are outfitted with a tent for ten people, and host of supplies including water purification tablets, sleeping bags, ropes, knives, mosquito nets, and more. Each one costs around $800, and Crawford said sales following his appearance on Keith Olbermann's show last night sheltered 60 more Haitians.
"I can beat 60 people at anything," said Imus, who pledged to buy $10,000 worth of boxes, and then couldn't figure out how many boxes that would be.
More information on the shelter boxes can be found at www.CraigCrawford.com, where some guy named Colorado Bob initially brought the charity to Crawford's attention.
"You can actually track the delivery of your box," said Crawford. "So you can see that it actually gets there."
Next on Crawford's list: getting newly-elected Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown to obtain Liberator status for the Boston regiment of General Patton's army.
"They liberated a concentration camp in World War II," Crawford explained. The remaining members of the 94th regiment never sought Liberator status, and their bravery went unreported until recently. For more information on the 94th Regiment's plight, please visit their website.
Crawford charged that Senator John Kerrey of Massachusetts dropped the ball after promising to help these vets, and so he wanted to get Brown on the case. But Imus has a way with Kerry, whom he said he can "get" to do it.
"I'll make him to do it," Imus said. "I'll call him. He's a good guy. And maybe he'll hang up on me."
That's what most people would do.
