Imus Disturbed By Lis Wiehl's Wedding Singer
Fox News legal analyst Lis Wiehl went to la-di-da Harvard and la-di-da Columbia, so who better to talk to about the Amanda Knox case in Italy? Apparently, Imus, who, despite having no college education, was in possession of more facts.
Amanda Knox, University of Washington student, was studying in Italy and living with a girl she did not particularly like. That girl turned up dead, and Knox was implicated.
"She spent 14 hours in an interrogation room with no attorney, no translator, nothing," said Wiehl. Last week, Knox was convicted of murder and sentenced to 26 years in prison for a crime that Wiehl said she would have been acquitted of in the U.S.
The prosecutor's theory was that Knox's roommate wouldn't go along with a menage a trios with Knox and her boyfriend, and so Knox killed her.
"The prosecutor said she didn't 'react appropriately' when she heard about her roommate," Wiehl said, and wondered if Imus could identify with having such negative feelings toward someone.
"Don't involve us in this!" Imus cried, and asked whether Knox's fingerprints had been at the scene. Wiehl said none of her DNA had been found, but that Knox was accused of removing it, which is ludicrous if not impossible.
Bernard interjected that an African drug dealer was also convicted of the crime, and that Knox's boyfriend, whose DNA was found at the murder scene, was convicted and sentenced to 25 years in jail. Wiehl argued otherwise, and everyone was pretty confused, until Imus finally changed the subject to something even more troublesome.
"It's disconcerting to know that Michael Bolton sang at your wedding," he told his guest, who is married to fellow attorney "icky" Mickey Sherman.
Because Imus asked, Wiehl said she's a feminist, and had been initially supportive of Sarah Palin; until, that is, Palin opened her mouth and "kept getting in the muck."
Not only was her 12-year old daughter disappointed by Sarah Palin, but her 17-year old son has been let down by Tiger Woods, whom Wiehl called "an icon."
"Your kid thinks Tiger hanging with the babes and the porn stars is bad?" Imus said incredulously "Is that what he told you and Mickey?"
Wiehl was jetting off to Los Angeles today to discuss the screenplay for her novel Face of Betrayal, a copy of which she brought for Deirdre, who allegedly had asked for one.
Said Imus, "I'll paint your house if she reads it."
