Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

We were really saddened to hear of Fred's passing. We always enjoyed hearing him on the show. We certainly had not met him, but it was like losing a freind.
The cowboy rides toward the sunset
Yet His shadow lingers near
Rugged memories ride the range
Of the man we hold so dear
Our lonesome ride will track him
Til the end of our trail is here
Keep your eyes fixed
On the cowboy's heaven's gate
You'll find him waiting there!
We miss you Fred!
Fred Imus left us too soon! He was a unique character and intelligent beyond most. The thoughts and comments Fred would make on his brother Don's radio show were witty and funny yet very thought provoking....simply said, they "made sense"! RIP Fred Imus! My thoughts and prayers are with you, Don Imus, for your loss.
I-Man,
I am sorry to hear of the passing of your brother. It was always a great time hearing him on your show. He was the real deal: his wit was undeniable, he was down to earth, he was a patriot and a hero, when he spoke, he was a man of few words, but every word counted and made a great deal of sense to me. He will be very much missed and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to hear him.
Wishing the Imus family well. Fred had the ability to see the true nature of a person and have the unnaturaly ability to describe it. There is a musical group that Fred would have loved to hear and I am sorry that he never had the chance. It is called The Moxy and has the edge that Fred would appreciate.
Thank you Fred for the smiles that you and your brother Don let me experience by listening to you both exchange in banter on Don's radio show. There was many a morning that you both brought enjoyment and happiness into my life. You will live on Fred in the hearts of your many fans and listeners. I was also a regular listener of your Saturday Outlaw Country program on Sirus/XM radio. I will miss you because your entertainment made it easier to cope and laugh on many an occasion. May the good Lord welcome you into his kingdom with open arms.
Fred's appearances on Imus were always a refreshing highlight of the show he will be sorely missed by all .
So long Fred. RIP.

Fred was a guy I could have been great friends with. He gave me a lot of laugh out loud moments....I know you miss him a ton
My wife and i made a special trip to warehouse that housed all of the imus clothing and food in Santa Fe many years ago. we met his dog, Fred and he welcomed us with open arms and
graciously took us through the warehouse. He mentioned that his brother was coming out shortly but his Continental flight was cancelled. It was a long time ago, but still remembered fondly.
Rest in Peace, Fred
To the Imus family and all of Fred's friends and companions, my deepest condolences on your loss.
I guess I'm just a typical Imus listener and Outlaw Country fan but I feel like I have lost a member of my own family.
Shall we meet beyond the river,
Where the surges cease to roll?
Where in all the bright forever,
Sorrow ne’er shall press the soul?
I loved when Fred was on with Imus---especially the comment when Imus asked "Did you watch the President last night" Fred replied" I turned him off as soon as I realizsed he was not going to resign" Great down to earth guy !! Rest in Peace.
Dear I Man
Used to look at your site and see who your guest were on the show, when Fred was on I would always get up early to watch. When I was sick or down Fred and Your Show kept me in Stitches I am sure your loss is huge personaly. The viewers who love you both are also in pain. Fred will remain in my thoughts everytime I watch. May you and your family be blessed with memories., and may Fred rest in Peace.

Dear Mr. Imus....My sympathy to you, Deirdre, and Wyatt. Thank you for sharing Fred with all of us. He was everyone's brother, everyone's uncle,
everyone's friend. Some enter our homes through the front door; some through the back. Fred would have come through the garage.

My husband and I were shocked to here of Fred's passing. We both loved him. He was the highlight of your show!!! I remember years ago calling up the Autobody Express to place an order, and Fred answered the phone. We talked on the phone for awhile and it was like talking to and old friend. I told him that he should be on your show more often. He laughed and he said ,no, when he is on that was enough. Fred will never be forgotten, his voice, his jokes, and just Fred.
The passing of Fred was a loss to all. A simple life that touched so many. My latest fondest moment from had to be the dating on line. Every time I think of that I still smile and chuckle. A life we can all hope to emulate the only thing we can take to the bank is that he will be there to meet all of us with a smile and down earth simple sense of humor.rest in peace and thank you both. Condolences to all. Listening to all since 78', most of the the time while driving. I can't count the number of times I pulled to side of road or waited to go into appointment with client to hear Fred's words fo wisdom. His dog eating the parrot when in San Antonio, and countless other stories would have me laughing and crying. When he wanted to he could say more in one sentence then most say in paragraphs. A good man has gone for his last ride.
Don,
I'm a former broadcaster now 66 and I remember with great humor your old recordings, 50000 hamburgers to go and others and when you were syndicated and brought along Fred, I thought now there's a family that belongs together doing things together but not every day. Your love and caring for each other only cemented your position as a rascally old fart who deep inside loved and cared about things we should all care about.
I know you will miss Fred, even though his ashes are around the house. I only hope that my brothers and I share this same love for each other. May you be kept in peace and good spirits, as I know you will. We'll miss Fred, but having him around all those years will keep him in our memories and I'll chuckle when I think of all those discussion you had together.
Stay strong I-Man and I'll keep listening and laughing because I too sometimes want to throttle all these asswipe politicians.
I only wish I had known Fred personally because I would have spit, lied and drank with him till the cows came home/
Patrick
Don, Freds segments to me were a highlight of the show. His humor was unmatched and best of all he completed you. You made a great team.
Iman you have my deepest sympathy. One thing that could be said about Fred is that he was genuine with no pretense about him. When the pain is not so great it would be a fine tribute to Fred to replay his calls to the show. You could always be sure to not only be entertained but there was an element of wisdom that is missing in this BS PR world of ours.
i still wear my fred shirt proudly. his legacy...at least for me is he made me laugh. rest in peace fred
So sad to learn of your brother, Fred's passing. Neil Cavuto got it right when he reminded all of us about the way you, and Fred ended your phone calls with, "I love you".
Having two adult sons, I encourage them to do the same as that is what life is all about.
Our condolences to Don & his family-always enjoyed when Don and Fred talked--our thoughts and prayers are with you--
Dear Imus family; I was truly moved when I heard of Freds passing. He went the way we all hope to go "the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."My sincerest sympathies to Donny and his family ,Iman and your family. I will always remember his dilemma when he lost the cantaloupes.God speed Fred ride the range in the sky in peace.Ammon Boltz
In memeory of Fred, what a huge hole in our hearts is left w/ his passing.
The Rainbow Bridge.... a Norse legend
By the edge of the woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of men and women do run,
When there time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next, is a
Place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they will wait and they play,
Till the rainbow bridge they will cross over one day.
No more do they suffer in pain or in sadness,
For they are whole they’re lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health is renewed,
Their bodies are healed with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass without even a care,
Until one day they sniff at the air.
With ears pushed forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met,
Together again both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
Their time apart is over at last.
The sadness they felt while being apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then side by side they cross over together.
with sincere sympathy.
Fred was a joy to listen to when he was on your program. He sounded like the real deal. My sympathy to you and your family.
