This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

I share in sadness the loss of a man I never knew and the brother of a man who introduced us to him! I know Fred had favorite songs, but I have to say that the words of Jerry Jeff Walker come to mind for the departed Fred Imus. "I was contrary to ordinary, even as a child, fast trains made me wonder and full moons they drove me wild! But stories do come true if you just live life in episodes......"
I so appreciate the episodes Don and Fred shared on the air. I share in life the love of a brother who had shared difficult times growing up with me. In that regard, I knew Fred Imus. To the Imus family "God Bless You" in the days ahead!

Condolences, Don and family. I need to find 2 Guys 4 Corners and look at it again. It's been a few years. Kind regards,

Dear Don and family,
I was shocked and saddened to learn of the death of your dear brother Fred. Your interactions with him on the show were always humorous and informative. However, the most impressive part was when you said good bye to Fred you always told him that you loved him. You are a good man and a good brother. Thanks for all you do. God's peace to you and yours.

To Don Imus and family -- I was so sad to hear about the passing of your brother, Fred. I have been listening to you faithfully for about 40 years and now I get to watch you on TV every day. I was raised in Brooklyn, New York and now live in Atlanta and your show is my daily reminder of how great New Yorkers are. When your brother was on, the chit chat between the two of you was evidence of how you felt for one another. Last week my husband's brother also passed away at age 61. Times like this are very difficult but along with our families and friends and a good sense of humor (which you provide), we are all comforted to know that our loved ones are in a good place. My heartfelt condolences to you.

We have and enjoyed and are avid listeners of Imus In The Morning shortly after you started on MSNBC…. Fred Imus was a daily personality whom I enjoyed immensely…. The way he cared for the animals, the hands and the children…. The way he argued with brother Don….. It was great….. Fred enjoyed being the brunt of any joke going…. God Bless and Keep Fred Imus…..

Fred was a great addition to the Imus program. I especially loved the early programs when Imus and Fred were discussing Fred's wives, dog problems, jokes and other crazy Fred experiences. I heard Imus describe the famous parrot/dog story this morning. It was my favorite. I still have and will keep my Fred coffee cup. We will ALL miss him.

I will always be grateful to Fred for making me laugh out loud so many times, and I particularly enjoyed it when he talked about Four Legged Fred. My thoughts and prayers are with the Imus family.

I was shocked and very saddened to learn of Fred's passing. He was like a member of my family. Don and Deidre should feel great comfort at how well they took care of Fred, and I am sure he very much appreciated all their good deeds.

Kind regards,
Cheryl

We loved Fred. Always a pleasure to hear him call in and always made us laugh. Den's favorite shirt is the chambray Auto Body Express
shirt with "Fred" under the logo. So many people think his name is Fred when he wears it. So Fred will live on, on the shirt & in our hearts.

My condolences to Don Imus and his family, all of whom I just love to death. I watch (and record) daily all of the Imus In the Morning shows, as well as weekends "Best of Imus". I was so shocked to hear the news of Fred Imus' death, and saddened to know that such a lively character would be heard from no more. I will continue
to watch Don Imus and will fondly remember all the stories his brother shared with the public while he guest appeared. My favorite, of course, was his quip about watching the presidential speech on TV wherein he stated he watched about a minute of it and when Obama didn't resign, he shut it off. Words of wisdom and my sentiments exactly. What a card, Fred Imus was - he is so sadly missed, now and forever.

I really enjoyed listening to the light hearted but caring repartee between Don and Fred on Imus in the Morning. He lives on in those past shows and the hearts of all the listeners as well as his family.

I would like to extend my most sincerest condolences to you, your family and friends of Fred. I have enjoyed the "Imus in the Morning" show for about thirteen years and Fred's visits with you were always a delight. I really enjoyed his soft nature and that barely detectable stubbornness at times. He had a terrific sense of humor, a great taste in music and photography. Thank you Fred for your service on behalf of our country. He will be so deeply missed but I take comfort in the fact that his legacy and love for life lives on in Mr. Imus, his family and even all those animals Fred considered best friends. Best wishes!

Too bad you had to go at 69. Wish we could all be so lucky as to die in our sleep. God was good to you.

Do you remember when Fred, for whatever reason, went on a "date" with Carol Higgins Clark? She was so good at expressing her mixed up response to Fred - the horror, the amusement, the astonishment. I think she must have laughed about that during appearances for two years, and we laughed with her. I hope wherever he is right now, he is out on a date with a pretty woman.

Dear Don and Family,
Watched you this morning and could feel your pain. I've watched you for years when I was preparing to leave for the laboratory as a manager and bench technologist in a local hospital(Gundersen Lutheran).Guess you won't know unless I tell you that you are my family! I was raised on a farm in Wisconsin, we raised cows, chickens and pigs, and woke up one morning in March, 1958 to find my mother had died in her sleep with my 4 month baby brother next to her. I happened to be the oldest of five and turned out had to be a mother at the age of 14. That was the main reason I decided to become a scientist hoping I could find a cure for leukemia. Like you I've watched people die from birth to age 100+. But it was the young kids that reallly got to me. I just got good at finding early cells (blast cells) in order to help start treatment early. Know I'll probably never meet or talk to you or your family in person but I watch you closely every day and hope you can continue with your valuable help to the kids you have at the ranch. I'm over 70 yrs. old and still live alone in my log cabin on the side of a bluff and run races regularly. Have run over 130,000 miles in the last 30 yrs. Carry on!!!!
Love, Marlene

I have been listening to the Imus show during many years via the internet, from many countries in Europe and Latin America. As much as I like the show, by far my favorite guest on the show has always been Fred Imus. I spent a year in the 80's in the U.S., and Fred and Don Imus, via the short extracts on the Podcasts, have made me, not an American, remember the true American integrity and common sense, that made an impact on me in some people almost 30 years ago. People like Fred and Don Imus give hope that the good old American values are still alive.
Fred Imus made a difference on my way of seeing things, I'm sure many many more feel the same.
