This Isn’t Our Last Love Letter

Dear Don Don,

Way back in 92

I walked into the room and knew

Never felt this way before

I shook your hand while gazing into your eyes

And the feeling grew

As I took a seat I knew

A love that would have my heart

Forever

I knew

Way back in 92

They say love at first sight doesn’t always last or isn’t true

We were the exception to that rule

Our love had no where to hide

A spark set fire

As if this is how the universe started

I never doubted our love or what we could do

Together we grew

Forming a bond everlasting

That became our glue

My euphoria was YOU

I’m eternally grateful for the love and life we shared

For how fortunate we were :

“to have and to hold
through sickness and in health
Til death do us part”

Until we are together again

This isn’t our last love letter

I love you with all my heart and soul

Yours forever,

Deirdre  (Mrs. Hank Snow)

I’m fortunate to have fallen in love with, marry and make a life with the sharpest, coolest, funniest, most rare, bad ass, tender loving, loyal man on the planet, my husband Don Imus.

A True American Hero

I don’t know why it has been so hard for me to write about my dear friend Don Imus.

I certainly know what he meant to me, my family, my charity, my hospital and the millions of fans that listened and loved him for so many years.

I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.

But what most people don’t talk enough about is what he did for all of us.

In every sense of the word, he was an American Hero. His work with children with so many different illnesses and his dedication to their future was unmatched by anyone I have ever known or heard about.

Besides raising over $100,000,000 for so many causes, he took care of young people for over 20 years in a state where he could not breathe.  Along with his incredible wife Deirdre, he created a world where children were not defined by their disease. That was a miracle! He was a miracle.

I will miss him ever day for the rest of my life.
I was blessed to be a part of his and Deirde’s life.
No one will ever do what he did.
I love you Don Imus - A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

David Jurist

A Tribute To Don Imus

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.

Don Imus Was Abrupt, Harsh And A One-Of-A-Kind, Fearless Talent

By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Greetings IMan,

We lost a great man when your brother passed on. He had to be one of the least pretentious people that I have ever seen in my life. What you saw is what you got and if you didn't like it, that was your loss. He was a very modest man and came accross as a down to earth guy. You didn't know whether he was a multimillionaire or a street person because he was not a materialistic person and could talk to a King or a hobo with the same manner of speech. Absolutely no putting on airs.

The one segment of your show that I think defined him the most was when he was trying to get his horse back to the barn in the middle of a snow storm. He was ill with a cough and didn't feel good at all but his love for animals took precedent. He came accross as a an ol' curmudgeon but try as he may he could not hide his heart of gold.

I've been a long time listener of your program on TV before Sharpton gave you the shaft. Then after you were off the air, I was delighted to find you on RFD and now am delighted that you are on MSNBC. Fred is one guest that you did not have on nearly enough in my estimation. I will miss his craggy ol' face, deeply lined from being outdoors and surprisingly in his own way was a very distinquished looking and handsome man.

My prayers to you and yours.

I can't mourn Fred - I didn't know him beyond the glimpses on this show.

But I can express my gratitude for all those times he lifted my burden for a moment with some comment that made me laugh out loud.

The same debt I feel to your show and cast every day. It's hard to overstate what that has meant over the last decade.

I can't mourn Fred , but I will miss him . Thank you Fred , and goodbye.

Dear Imus family,

May God wrap his arms around you and bring you peace during this difficult time.

As a long time listener, Fred had become my very favorite part of the show. I often sent the You Tube replays to my friends.
I will miss his strange wit & cowboy wisdom. Funny, he had so much more sense than most of the "elite" guests who appear on the show.
It's so hard to quantify what it was that made Fred so special to so many. I have decided that much of it would be this:

In a world full of phonies, he was a truly genuine person.

God bless you all ,

Fred was one of the very best guests because he was so genuine and funny - we looked forward to his appearances on the show. My wife & I are honored to be ranch foreman - it was special to be allowed to be part of your family for a moment knowing the love and commitment you, Deirdre & Fred created for the children. I'm going to think of Fred by remembering the park he made for Daevin. We are sorry for your loss.

It is never easy to say goodbye....Blessed are those who love and believe in Him....for those who are suffering, Angel wings spread His Grace and Light upon you this night and every night....tomorrow "shine" from that Light and know that He will be with you through your pain and sorrow and all will be well........Mr. Imus, I am not a particularly religious person, nor church going, but I do believe in a God Almighty above and I am sure Fred did too - these words for me speak the truth...bless Fred Imus and you I Man and your family....Fred you are missed, rest in peace.....

Dear Mr. Imus,
I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your brother. His stories and wit always made me smile. Neil Cavuto's eloquent and moving tribute says it all.
My condolences to you and your family. RIP Fred.

Was very sorry to hear about your brother's death. He was very funny and I loved it when he was on the show bantering with Degan's sister. He gave us all a reason to smile. Listening to you talk about your brother's death warmed my heart and has comforted me with a recent death in my own family, You are right when you say any of the Navy Seals or the very sick children on your ranch would have loved to live to be 69. Thanks for letting Fred be part of all our lives.

I always looked forward to getting up early on weekends and listening to Fred, Missy and Buckskin on OUTLAW COUNTRY. I loved to listen to Fred's stories and he played the music I would have picked for my playlist. I never meet Fred but I feel like I have lost a good friend. RIP, Fred. You were an American original.

As you move on, let memories of the good times bring you peace. His love for you is forever
& he'd be pleased all your long time listeners care for you & your family. Fred, we all miss you!

RIP Fred. My condolences to the Imus family. I hope all these expressions of affection for you and your family bring some comfort during this sad time.

I wish to express my condolences to the Imus family. One of the highlight's on the Imus program was Fred's call-ins. I don't know if it was an act or if that was Fred's humor, but his conversations about current events and his ex-wives was always amusing.

Very very sorry for our loss - Fred will be fondly remebered - I loved when you offered to paint his trailer, he said "my trailer don't need painting" you said "well I'll hose it down for you."

We all knew that Fred didn't want to go through a football season without Brett Favre but this was a little drastic. Seriously, we all feel really bad about your loss of your dear brother.

Being long-time listeners (1973 - NY), we'll always remember the love shown between 2 brothers named Imus. It was reflected in all your on-air conversations and even in the commitments you both made in business. Years ago, we made a special trip to Auto Body Express while visiting Santa Fe. First, we were surprised to meet Four-Legged Fred. Being Siberian Husky owners, we knew well how these dogs were affectionate, but many times ornery. Then, what a surprise to actually meet Fred in person as he walked in to chat with us. After we told him how much we liked Huskies, his quick wit immediately answered, "Well, would you like another one?" Today, I hope Fred is rejoined with his dogs, giving each other companionship & smiles. Fred will always be one of our most fondest memories and we were truly honored to have met him. Thank you for sharing him with us. Don, we hope you'll always feel the connection because we're pretty sure Fred will never be that far away from you.

Recorded your show of 8/15/11 didn't watch until today, surprised to hear about Fred. We loved his sense of humor, I was born in 1942.....this is scarey. Our thoughts are with you and we appreciate all the laughs and conversations we listened to between the Imus brothers. Fred was indeed a one of a kind person and we will miss him.
Hang in there Imus......we need you. (Hemet, CA)

If Fred had taken his down-home humor and wit to the stage he would have been a modern day Will Rogers. He cut to the chase on issues and controversies as well as anyone I've heard. Will miss him greatly! My condolences.

I wish I had known Fred. I never missed his appearances on your show. The two of you were so great together. The love between you was so sincere and very touching. I listened to Fred every Sunday on SiriusXm and was always anxious to hear what story he had to tell. My thoughts are with you during this sad time.

Condolences to the Imus family from Rifle Ranch in Prescott, AZ. So sorry to hear of Fred's passing. We always got a kick out of listening to his dry wit and jokes. Keep up the good work at the ranch.
