Remembering Fred Imus
Please share your thoughts and memories of Fred Imus, who passed away August 6 at the age of 69
I keep reading all the beautiful condolences that people are writing about how much a part of their lives were effected by listening to him over the years.
The Imus Ranch Foundation was formed to donate 100% of all donations previously devoted to The Imus Ranch for Kids with Cancer to various other charities whose work and missions compliment those of the ranch. The initial donation from The Imus Ranch Foundation was awarded to Tackle Kids Cancer, a program of The HackensackUMC Foundation and the New York Giants.

Children’s Health Defense joins parents of vaccine-injured children and advocates for health freedom in remembering the life of Don Imus, a media maverick in taking on uncomfortable topics that most in the mainstream press avoid or shut down altogether. His commitment to airing all sides of controversial issues became apparent to the autism community in 2005 and 2006 as the Combating Autism Act (CAA) was being discussed in Congress. The Act, which was ultimately signed into law by George W. Bush in December of 2006, created unprecedented friction among parents of vaccine-injured children and members of Congress; parents insisted that part of the bill’s billion-dollar funding be directed towards environmental causes of autism including vaccines, while most U.S. Senators and Representatives tried to sweep any such connections under the rug.
Don Imus, Divisive Radio Shock Jock Pioneer, Dead at 79 - Imus in the Morning host earned legions of fans with boundary-pushing humor, though multiple accusations of racism and sexism followed him throughout his career By Kory Grow RollingStone
Don Imus Leaves a Trail of Way More Than Dust
By Michael Riedel - The one and only time I had a twinge of nerves before appearing on television was when I made my debut in 2011 on “Imus in the Morning” on the Fox Business Channel. I’d been listening to Don Imus, who died Friday at 79, since the 1990s as an antidote the serious (bordering on the pompous) hosts on National Public Radio. I always thought it would be fun to join Imus and his gang — news anchor Charles McCord, producer Bernard McGuirk, comedian Rob Bartlett — in the studio, flinging insults back and forth at one another. And now I had my chance. I was invited on to discuss to discuss “Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark,” the catastrophic Broadway musical that injured cast members daily.

Hope your birthday this year was so special Don. You have lots of good memories and reasons to still be with us here. None of us will ever forget Fred and his special personality that was so witty, he left his logo on all of our minds. God bless you for being there for him all of those years, you are like Janice, you stepped up and became
the father figure to your younger brother, whereas she did that with her younger sister who has since passed on as well.
Much love to your family Don and to Fred's family...remembering Fred is an honor to be included in those who lives he touched, many by radio and television, but moreso
in real life.
We are looking forward to seeing you again someday Fred...we'll play a few songs together round the throne...love you buddy!
For/from you, Fred: Happy Birthday Bro. Keep waitin' at the ranch gate for me...
I have listened to Imus since Cleveland the first time. Every one should be so lucky as to have a Fred in their lives. When you need a new or different or can I say better outlook on some of lives absurdities you need a Fred. Will miss you good sir.
I did not know that Fred had died until today, August 5, 2012, which, 'oddly enough' is the day before his first anniversary. I am deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I followed the I-man, and his frequent discussions with his brother for years, but, the changes in my morning work schedule, plus the wrangling of local radio stations, kept me away from Imus in the Morning in the Boston area. In any case, I remember Fred warmly. He always made me chuckle. The banter between brothers reminded me of my own 'discussions' with my brother. It was always real. And, the conversations always ended with "I love you." This was always touching to me. Although belated, I express my sincerest sympathy to Don and his family upon this loss. Thank you, Fred, for making me laugh.
Today Watched my brother and his son learn to paddleboard in the surf and I thought of Fred and Don. Everyone finds our banters .to be hilarious but they are based on truths only he and I could know. When I would hear Fred and Don talk I could relate and today I thought to myself how hard it would be to not see him again with all we have shared and endured in this life.
I hugged my brother today and I feel blessed because in many ways we both should not be here and I am so grateful . God bless you Don and God bless Fred who will be at the gate without a doubt! You and Fred make a difference!
PS Raffle the trailer and have Dagens sister do the the benefit auction !
FRED.... Miss you....PAT
It's been a year now and I have watched Don Imus almost everyday (DVR) and I really enjoyed the show so much when when Fred was on. Hearing Fred just making comments about everyday life and people were great. The way Don and Fred would react to one another with the perfect banter and always, always, the "I Love you" from them as they were about to hang up just touched me in words I can't explain. Genuine is the word.
I have watched Imus for many years, and the high light of the day was when Fred was on. His opinions were amusing as well as very true, and we agreed with him when he gave serious opinions as well. It was like losing a good friend when he passed away.
Don,
My older brother Bob { DOG was his nickname} passed away 5/29/2012...he had problems with life that he tried to self medicate...he went into the hospital many times and had somehow came around and went on with life. He however did not make it out last Memorial Day Weekend...so Don hang in there i know how you feel.
I miss you Fred... you touched a lot of lives and I am very fortunate to have known you!
Miss you Fred! Not a day goes by that I don't think about how much fun it was to know you. Even the rough times were special and I have missed it all over the years. As always thank you for all you did for me and my staff at ABE. Don and all Imus family members Chere and I send our thoughts and prayers.
Well, its been a year and I still think of picking up the phone when it comes to something about my horses or dogs. I guess it might always be that way. The marriage only lasted ten years but the friendship was forever. Noone will ever make me laugh like you did. Thanks for the memories and for giving me wonderful sons! I miss you.
Love
Phyllis
Prayers to the Imus family as this one year anniversary passes. Miss Fred's calls into the show and his "brotherly" bantering but especially the brother's always hung up with an "I love you".
Damn a year has come and gone. It is so hard to think it has been a year already.
I really miss Fred on the show.
Gone but not forgotten!!!!
Love you all Imus family and so sorry to know it's been a year since Fred's passing.
Just an IMAN FAN, who enjoyed hearing the brothers "shooting the bull" on the IMUS show. You both were so blessed to have each other. There will always be "Precious memories, how they will linger and how they will ever flood your soul". That's how it should be. God bless you, IMUS, as you carry on..My heart and prayers go out to you and your beautiful wife and all of your family. Thanks for all you do for others.
one of the most UNFUNNY people EVER-except for his crippled brother 'THE-I WOMAN'(totally gay)
I don't understand the last comment by Walter Cross.
Are you serious!!!!! I think you can read and see how wrong you are. Nuff said.
I'm with you Marilyn, I don't understand that stupid comment from Walter Cross either. I'd say to Walter, if you can't be respectful on this sight go to another sight and spew your venom. You, Walter are very disrespectful !!!!!!
I think, that Walter cross got his email read,on the Air,,and Don,told him to NEVER watch his show Again,, That was the day,,that we could tell, some thing was Bothering the Iman,,More than normal,, The cancer screening,, I Might be wrong,,But if i am,, Walter,Please stop Posting,,they were the 2 closest! Unless You have a cross to bear! ???????,,Go WYATT!!!!!!,,
Switchin channels this mornin...Is the I-woman still alive? How long was he dating Mike Lupica and Bo(PHONY F@#K)Dietl?Is there anyone under 90 years old who thinks the I-woman is relevant?
Walter clearly has no love in his life. Pathetic.
12 years w/ lupi , but do not know how to count Bo with the bannings. By the way Mr.Cross, nice name, drop dead.
Your Brother was and is a good man. I have watched you for years and like your style. I'm an old Vietnam Vet, 1967, with the 3/506th Infantry, 101st Airborne, 67/68, so I don't really know where I stand with you. You and Fred gave us many laughs and good music over the years. God bless Fred and the I-Man.
Walty,
Clearly, you are in dire need of T-Gen. Order some immediately. It must be tough to hold a worm in your left hand. You have my deepest sympathy.
I hope Bo and his posse pay you a visit. I'd pay to see your sorry ass fraidy-scared
As for Lupica, you can only dream about having as much money as he and Imus do.
Imus doesn't care about relevance, and his entire program is intended to be only half-serious. Only a spineless cowardly loser would actually disparage him on a page intended to honor his beloved brother.
Pull your pants, up Walty, and get an effing life.
